So I'm not actually ready, nor am I knowledgeable enough yet. Unfortunately, it sounds like I'm on a time crunch if I want to get in on the pricing that has been available lately.

I want to put together a 16 cell 24v pack (2P8S?) and a separate 4 cell 12v pack. The 12v pack isn't essential, but handy, and limits my risk of not ending up with 16 cells if one is bad. I'm tentatively planning on buying from Xuba, and am interested in getting the busbars from them as well.

I just don't know exactly what to buy. I'm not tied to a particular battery layout, but straight packs would be optimal for the trailer layout. Your help is very much appreciated!!

I think your urgency is misplaced. Gone? I doubt it.

The 280Ah cells are going for about $110 shipped to your door via sea freight (at least 30 days to receive them). I just got a quote for 8 from Xuba for just under $900 including bus bars. When I told her I wasn't ready to order, it was, "okay, let me know," not, "these cells are running out, hurry before it's too late."

That gives me some hope, but I think my risk tolerance is going to require me to order soon. I have the cash and plenty of time before I really get to consider the electrical side of things - right now I'm still early in the construction phase of the trailer.

Do you want the 280Ah?

If so, this is the link in the Xuba thread:

You will have to ask for a sea freight quote DDP (that includes tariffs and delivery to your door).

Mention you found her via DIY Solar Forum.

These companies have gotten really good at selling to us. They know what matters, what to communicate, what standard they need to hit - and they've done well

The need to ask a million questions is gone. Honestly I'm surprised about the need to ask Amy for sea shipping, it should be the default.

Just get on Alibaba, send them a quick message asking for a quote. Agree, pay, get stuff delivered to your door.

If you want 16 cells, go do it. I ordered 48 a few days ago, $4381 on the card (cells, shipping, insurance fee, credit card fee) from Basen. Prices up a bit now I think, but that was 77 a cell.

If someone really wants extras then by all means get them, but it's not generally necessary. I wouldn't stress about it.

Xuba and Luyuan Tech are sister companies. Luyuan has a special deal with S&H they organized a while ago. Amy is at a special conference today evaluating new shipping & delivery companies to imrpove on what they have already (there is room for improvement).

Here is the link to their 280AH cells page:

BTW: I know Amy Wan and many others as I deal with them on a regular basis for various things, they try to keep me up to date on things, of which 98% of I do not share on here as that would not be appropriate. I get no compensation of ANY sort and ask for none, as this is a personal thing for me to help people become independent ansd to help green up our planet more for our kids and their future. My "About my System" is slightly out of date ATM but will be updated after my final rebuild and full conversion is complete at the end of this month. A TIP: If people give you advice, look at THEIR "About My System" page, if they don't have one... well.... engage Critical Thinking. There are many "Paper Experts" out there....

There are similar cells made by CATL, ETC and Lishen as alternatives to EVE 280Ah cells. Nobody on this forum knows what the 12 months or 10 year durability of these cells will be, but by then we will have something newer and sexier like solid state graphene.

Xuba's pricing is more competitive than another vendor who adds an additional $25 per 8 cells in "Alibaba Logistics Fee" to the invoice that is separate to the cell price and postage price. (Alibaba always adds 2.95% credit card surcharge)

Amy from Xuba can also source for you 2cm wide busbars instead of the standard 1.5cm width if you ask her to. These are only a small additional cost each.

If ETC starts selling direct ... I wonder if they will actually answer questions about the clamp pressure they recommend.
