Also those of you who bought a BMS from Overkill Solar, you have a JBD Smart BMS, please select that option in the poll, not 'other'.

  3. 300 (DCC-300HB)
  4. $296 (BMS, Shunt, DCC) (shipped + paypal fee)
  5. Mostly Satisfied*
  6. Directly from Jason (jasonwang3a@163.com)

* I haven't built the final system yet. I've tested 4s and 8s configurations with this unit (I have 2; will make 2 separate 48v packs combined in parallel).
Upcoming versions of the Chargery (e.g. active balancing) would probably change 5 to Satisfied.

Here are 5 more BMS products to add to this list. These are not cheap, then again neither are some of the Chinese products.

Moonitor 16S -

BMS123 Smart BMS -

Zeva 16S BMS -

REC BMS -

TinyBMS -

Thanks,
For now these BMSes will stay relegated to the "Other, Please Specify" category, there are a ton of BMSes out there and I'm trying not to overwhelm people with choices or discourage participation. I'm counting on the people who select other to specify which BMSes they have so I can see what options are popular and add them to the list.

I think 123smartBMS, TinyBMS, and Rec BMS have a chance of fighting their way onto the list, haven't personally come across the Zeva or Moonitor or heard anyone here mention them, I'll look into them though. I appreciate the links. For one reason or another there isn't much discussion or exposure to the higher end BMSes on this forum.

TinyBMS and 123smartBMS in particular are two I would like to learn more about.

I just added my vote for the Heltec. I only knew it as JK or Ji Kong. That is what is silk screened on mine.
14S6P of repurposed LG Chem Chevy Bolt 60 amp hour NMC cells.

So #5 goes to NOT Satisfied after running with 16s for a while. I've dumped the Chargery.

1. Orion Jr. 2
2. 2p16s
3. Technically N/A. I used a Gigavac GX11 with a smaller relay to drive it (relay signal max is 175ma). Good for 200-300 amps.
4. $822 including relay
5. Mostly Satisfied*
6. https://evolveelectrics.com/collections/orion-bms-jr-1-16-cells-in-series/products/bms-orion-jr-02

* It's complex especially in a CANBUS-controlled scenario. It's designed for EVs and not stationary systems, so getting it to behave the way I want has taken many many hours of experimentation and tuning.

Hi,

Maybe someone on this thread can comment on a brand that will taper off the charge as cells are deemed 100%. I got 16 cells for 51.2 volts.

That's not a function of the BMS, the cells being nearly full causes the charge to taper off. My SCC goes to Float once the EndAmps is below 10A @ 61.9V Absorb. Once that point is reached the Ah is almost always @ 260Ah (my Capacity Setpoint for 18 x 280Ah)
