OK i have changed the rotary switch for a fast relay and that has improved things a lot and the wife is still with me so i shall leave it at that now i just need the low dc auxiliary switch on the inverter to operate the relay and that will automate the system

when i switch from solar to grid and from grid to solar there is a delay for a split second and it is enough to switch off a TV or a computer and time clocks go off and it annoys the hell out of my Wife and i have got to do something, or get a lawyer.
now my idea is to put a bank of capacitors on the mains to the house to help bridge the gap will it work

Not sure I'd do the 'whole house' with capacitors. I use targeted, refurbished APC UPSs as they are pretty cheap on ebay
