Power Supply and Test Load

Hi All,

I'm putting together a battery that is 12V 570ah (I have 12x 3.2V 190ah cells) and I'd like a power supply to charge/balance and a load to test it.

I see the 30V/10A power supply recommended a lot, along with the 150W load tester. Due to the size of my battery, I'm wondering if there is a bigger power supply and bigger load tester anyone can recommend? Ideally something "cheap" as I don't plan on needing them (and don't have much storage space) after the battery is tested and installed.

Thank you

"Cheap" is the problem. Not really.

First step of top balancing is wire the cells 3P4S w/BMS installed and charge in series until the BMS hits HVD. That way, you're charging at 140W rather than only 35W, so it does expedite the process substantially.

12 * 3.2 * 190 = 7296Wh

/2 = 3648Wh (typically at 50% SoC as received)

3648/140 = 26 hours

Top balance will still take awhile, but you cut a huge amount of time out with the series charge.

As far as testing goes, a good compromise is to use your inverter and loads to test the whole battery, which determines the minimum capacity cell in the series group.
