Prices will go up within a month. (EG4 +industry insights)

yeah I grew up with late 60's and early 70's cars... one time I crawled into the engine bay on my 72 f250 and closed the hood 3/4's of the way so I could work on it in the rain... that ain't happening these days and its not just do to the extra weight i have gained.
Same here, I use to pull out my own 80s engines and tear them down and do Porting and Polishing plus a lot of other Mods to get more HP.
Today I won't even change the break pads myself.
Not that I can't but I only do hard labor on things that are new and interesting and only things that I cannot get done by someone else for a reasonable price.

yeah i just had my Crown's and the wifes Forester's transmission fluids changed by the dealers... both of them have CVT 6 speeds (I know a contradiction in terms) but basically a cvt coupled to a 6 speed to I am guessing try ot get the reliability of a normal automatic along with the better fuel economy of the CVT. regardless no fill ports, no dipsticks, no chiltons for either and not even any specs on the special fluid... you can buy it form the dealers but they won't tell you how much it takes... its designed to keep service in the dealership.

I do pretty much everything else as I have a two post lift and all the tools. matter of fact thinking about buying a new mohawk 12k two post lift to accommodate the F350... my little banzai lift is only good for 3000 kg's and that damn truck weighs in at 3900 kg's empty

Always thought an early 1960's Buick "Electra" 225 converted to EV would be cool.
I wish I had a "Duce and a quarter" from back in the day!
Imagine putting the drive line of the Lightning into one, like the quietest sleeper car ever...LOL.
We used to call those cars "Boats" around these parts - ie the boat tail ends on the fenders.

yeah I have been in talks off and on with mohawk over the last couple of months... the stumbling block is always the shipping. they want to treat it like a government contract which it would not be... I bought several os this exact same lift back in the day for one of our automotive maintenance shops here on the base hence my knowledge of them. when I emailed them they were like well we can't sell to you as a private person and I was like yes you can, I am the one paying for it no different then any garage owner in the US... then they got stupid about well how will we ship it? (via a commercial shipper duh!) the biggest i see fo japanese made lifts is 4000k kG so a 9000 lbs lift basically... it could barely lift the truck but I do not like that idea in a country that has earthquakes all the time.

Want to know how much EG4 battery price will increase.
Too many moving parts, from what will happen, to if it’ll be rescinded (and reinstated and etc) to how much the suppliers and EG4 will absorb of the price increases. If you need batteries price them when you need them and either buy them or wait for prices to drop.

Eco Worthy still at $750 on eBay Auctions.
Trump already suspended the $800 roll back executive order.
They say they need time to figure out how to enforce it with US customs.

Ford need to get its head out of its butt. in 1976 i could climb in the engine compartment and remove all the bolts off my 300- 6 banger transmimssion bellhousing. Now i dont even like looking under the hoods.
I have a 2000 silverado that i can work on just fine.
I do wonder how hard those EVs are to work on.
Some of that is government regulation with all the emissions crap they have to stuff in there plus all the computer crap to keep it efficient. However, some of it is corporate greed. Things are made so complicated that they take special tools to work on just so you have to take it to the dealer. Then they can justify $1000 just for brake pad replacement.

Here, 1996+ vehicles can't have any codes showing to pass DMV inspection now. People are dumping newer cars for older cars faster than I've ever seen. Older car markets are skyrocketing.

25+ years is where nys dmv switches to just safety inspection versus obd2 garbage. All our older trucks are in that range so less drama.

yes, but like I said, The 2000 silverado i have is easy to work on...
I know it keeps getting more busy under the hoods though.
I am 63 and changed the tranny in it and was all proud of myself until about 3 days later....
thank God for Aleve.

But do you have to register them as “antiques” which limit them to “parades” and certain special events, with certain mileage a year, ie not daily drivers?

In ME that’s the rule for antique plated cars, but no law enforcement actually enforces it.

In NH antiques autos need to pass the same inspection as if it was new, meaning that air bag light on that 80s Mercedes is going to set you back $$$ (unless you find a cheater jumper plug) same goes for ODB reading.

No nothing special needed. Just has to be old enough, instead of obd2 garbage they basically check the fuel cap fits. The rest of the annual safety inspection is the same as for newer vehicles:

Well I have to wonder...since...

That is not the price, Ford reduced the price of the 2024 Lightning's to help their dealers get these moving off the lot - I know because I cut a deal for one and paid under 62K in Canadian-micro-bucks for a new 2024. Not sure how long this price-cut will last, but if you're interested in a Lightning they are selling right now well below the MSRP. Kinda like buying the EV battery and the truck around it is nearly free... ;)

Well...since you ask - this is an interesting series of videos - I watched them just to see how it all goes together...surprisingly simple actually...
Lightning tear down There are seven videos in the series, this one linked shows you how they remove the massive battery - 8 bolts, a ground and six electrical plugs.
Didnt know that as I got an offer email from Ford stating the 2024s were starting at 62k. How many kwhrs can that battery hold?

I still do all my own car work. Brake jobs are as easy or easier than in the 70s.
I can afford to have it done, but I like knowing it was done properly.
The new tools make it easier as well.
My 20 volt 1/2" Harbor Freight impact is more powerful than my old 1/2" impact.

Aleve... 400 generic at Costco for $12.00 😄

At least that is the equivalent of about 25mpg for gasoline which is impressive for towing that much. What kills is the energy density of any battery is just simply no where close to that of gasoline, diesel, etc.
Yep, until batteries that have a very high energy density can be put into trucks that tow long distance, diesels and hybrids/range extended trucks make a lot more sense.

Working in a city an electric truck might be the cats meow even doing some towing, for long distance towing heavy, diesel all the way.
