Pull 12 volts from a 24 volt battery bank?

I ordered some thick bendable copper cable recently, and I was quite enamored with it. I tried showing it to my wife and children, but they failed to understand my enthusiasm. I wiggled it around at my wife, showing her the flexibility and suppleness. Eventually, she relented and held it, but in the end, she wasn't impressed. I couldn't believe it, multiple people, in my own household, unimpressed by thick copper wires!

Maybe I missed something but what do you need the 24 volt setup for?

The submersible transfer pump in my 3000 gallon tank is a 24 volt pump. The motor for the hand pump in the well will be 24 volt also.

also, big wires are spendy!
