Hi. I bought a Jackery 500 and have the solar panel adapter. one Youtube video by Will Prowse seemed to indicate that it was OK to use up to 200 watts to charge it.
My question is can I use this BougeRV solar panel. It's 170 watts - https://www.amazon.ca/BougeRV-Monoc...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Specification: Max power voltage(Vmp): 19.01V
Max. power current(Imp): 8.91A
  • Open circuit voltage(Voc): 22.5V
  • Short circuit current(Isc): 9.44A
  • Series fuse rating: 15A
  • Max. system voltage: 1000V
  • J-Box IP Rating: IP65
I'm from Canada and all other 100 watt panels have doubled in price in the last month.
any help much appreciated.

Yes.
That's the same ~22 Voc as a 100 watt panel but more amps but totally ok to overpanel even though the 170 will not charge faster than a 100 watt panel into the 3.5 amp Jackery.

8 amps? I wish! Max is 3.5A for the Jackery 500.

@LA111, expect to charge at a max of about 66W using that panel because the Jackery current limits the input.

Here's a heads up on some quirks I've observed when solar charging it:

Thanks, I edited 8 to 3.5A.
I know the Jackery 1000 is 10A but I can't get it into my head the 500 is only 3.5A.

There are Kyocera 158 watt panels on Craigslist for $38 And 28.9 Voc so perfect for 30V max Jackery's which actually error out at about 32 volts.
23.2 Vpmax x 6.82 Ipmax.
50.8" x 39"

I bought an mppt 75/10 Blue solar charge controller (may just resell it) and an Eco-Worthy 100 watt solar panel for $120 3 weeks ago (the exact panel is now 360.00 - not sure whats happening and why the price has jumped 3 times on it and the Renogy panels in Canada) I had planned to possibly just get another jackery 500 and a solar panel that will run it but I need to test my new Jackery first and see what it will run and for how long.
