I was shopping for some newer panels and I noticed that Silfab and REC seem to be on top of the latest cell technology. I am trying to buy panels with shade tolerance and heat tolerance.
In my diligence, I cam across passages where REC said designed in USA and many components made in USA, but panel assembly I believe in Thailand. Silfab seemed to say the panels are assembled in the USA of many USA made content, but not all.
Canadian solar panels are of similar specs and even much cheaper than Silfab or REC.
Question is are REC and Silfab panel prices being supplemented by US Government grants and loans as part of the Inflation Reduction Act addressing energy and if so, if the incoming administration gets approval from Congress to overturn parts of the law, could these two companies fail or be forced to raise prices up a great deal.
Warranties are no good if the company is insolvent. In that case, might as well buy a cheaper panel if I have to pay for the replacements myself.
Any comments on this are appreciated.
