Hi good people I have a quick question I purchased a Victron IP22 24v charger to keep my system ticking over during the winter months here in the UK.

Will this charger charge lifepo4 batteries???

I really hope so or I made a big mistake !!! I know I hear you guys I should have checked first but I saw that it charged lion batteries and assumed it would do lifepo4?

I know the settings can be altered within the Victron app so maybe I just need to get the correct settings ??

Thank You

Martin

Yes there's full control via the Victron Connect app. You can choose the built in Li-ion profile, 28.4V absorption, 27V float and storage, conservative for Victron batteries, or create your own custom ones.

It’s a wonderfull charger… mine has worked perfectly for 3 years for a multitude of different tasks… So has the 12v version…I have used them on AGM , FLA and my systems Lifepo …
U r fine with them …

The VictronConnect app (available on your phone, tablet or personal computer) has a "Demo Library" mode which will simulate most of the Victron products. It's a great way to check out features before you buy:

Thank you to everyone that has replied to me,

I tried the charger yesterday and it charges the batteries at 16amp, However the fan making a bad grinding noise (the charger is a second hand one) so instead of waiting for it to fail fully i ordered 2 Noctua NF-A4x10 24V fans, the charger normally only has one in the centre of the charger but Victron left a space at one end for another 40mm fan so going to put one there too probably overkill for the charger but seen I have the charger apart might has well :)

Thank you

From my recollection they do something like, 12/15 has no fan, but the 30A does. Same chassis for both. May have switched things up in the 24V models or they just don't run as hot.

Also while looking for pictures of ip22 internals found this thread, pretty cool basically can hook up any v.2 ip22 to venusos/verbo via ve.direct to some internal pins. Dont think they ever cracked being able to turn charging on and off but you can adjust charge current etc.

@Brucey oh thank you very much for the link .... mine does not have the VE direct over bluetooth as its a older model but it does have that pin header, So another nice project for me to try.... Yes the 24v 16amp has one internal fan near the centre of the charger if i change it to 8amp charge on the app then it does not need the fan but i will be using as 16 amp, And yes it makes sense them using one body for different model chargers makes it nice and easy for people that like to add extra colling. :)

Got mine to work from the link you provided @Brucey but I had to solder the RX and TX pins in the other pins was there but not them.... So dunno if Victron started removing them to try stopping people doing this, can't see it been a cost saving thing or they would have removed the other s..

Thank you

So looks like that's a 2019 unit so maybe v1? The newer v2s models have the pins I think.

Yes on the label on the underside it says hw rev 01..... it was just strange how all the other pins was there but for the RX and TX , Still a good charger I checked the caps etc while I had it open an none are bulged and very clean inside so it will do me nicely and now I can also see it through VenusOS on my berry pi saves me going out in the cold to see what its doing lol.
