Has anybody used a rack mount battery in their RV? Is it advised? I heard that because of the constant vibration/ bouncing I shouldn’t do it.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure if it’s a problem or not. Server rack batteries are just an option for my build. I didn’t know if I should kick them out of my spreadsheets or not.

All sever rack batteries are not created equal. If someone has a good recommendation regarding build quality (ruggedness/vibration/insulation), let’s hear it.
Personally if I don’t know, I’d only use rack batteries for stationary. I’d be looking at some of the offerings for marine/mobile that Will has reviewed.

Most rack mount batteries are 48 volt. Some are 12 volt. There are probably some 24 volt ones out there too but I haven't seen any.

If you have the room and the support in place, rack mount can work.

A single 48 volt 100 Ah rack mount battery is going to weigh much less than a 48 volt 280 Ah battery. But the 280 Ah battery will likely take up less room in terms of cubic volume. However, it will probably take up more floor space than a rack mount setup.

My RV was smooth with no vibrations. My trailer is smooth. Are you on wagon wheels?
Things will fall off shelves when you turn corners for sure so bolt it down.
Lawn mowers have a lot of vibration, but wheeled vehicle should not. Sometimes you get a big bounce, but that is not a vibration and will not break a solder joint apart. I have never had issues with anything breaking in a moving vehicle. The issues people have is that they have things loose or not bolted down very good and it is not the vehicle vibration that is issue, but the item becoming airborne from a big bounce then the hitting back down of said item that creates the vibration and damage, not the vehicle motion.
Server batts are great for their flat'ish shape if you need that, otherwise I do not see advantage.
