I have an extra raspberry pi 4 and a SD card lying around and thought i would try to build my own Victron Cerbo. I'm just curious about what touch screen i should use. I've seen that raspberry pi has a new touch screen 2 " https://www.pishop.ca/product/raspberry-pi-touch-display-2/ " but I've read or seen that so far its not compatible with with Venus OS. Can anyone confirm if this is still the case. If so which screen would you recommend? I would like to have the raspberry pi on the back for the touch screen

Note this doesn't work as touch screen for cerbo without faffing about but should work fine with a pi added to the back, i use it for cerbo display only off the hdmi on my cerbo-s.

I thought I didn't need to buy a cerbo . I can make it with installing venous OS

So last year I built a rapi 4 with a generic Amazon 10” touch screen.

If you roll up your sleeves and don’t mind Larping as a “coder” in command prompt you can make it work. I never got into coding beyond intro to C++ course over 18 years ago but can follow step by step instructions, oh and Mac OS terminal has a built in SSH functionality.

There’s a GitHub of a Venus “set up helper” plug in that allows you to SSH into the pi, run some scripts, enable it to be headless turns on the hid output, the configure your display to the rapi, and your good to go. There was a Venus 3.5 update that forced you to rerun the headless prompt, which threw me for a loop when I thought it was an easy update.

A few good YouTube videos walked me through the process. Toby’s Real life skills was one of them, he did a quick walk through video a few years ago about initial set up.
