EDIT: EARLIER POST ON THIS PRODUCT LINE

I don't own this power supply, but it looks very cool as far as budget Chinese Benchtop power supplies go and seems to be pretty well reviewed by a handful of youtubers.

First, this is not a traditional benchtop supply. its a modular design that can be bought as a package or pieced together separately.

The main component is a DC-DC benchtop cc/cv power supply, this together with a simple AC-DC power supply gives the functionality of a traditional benchtop power supply

What makes this system cool, is:
(1) Wifi / USB connectivity (can be monitored or configured via PC, android or IOS)
(2) Works with a wide range of AC-DC power supplies, including old laptop power bricks or meanwell type supplies (output voltage will be limited to the < the input voltage)
(3) Wide input and output voltage range (input = 6-70 volts, output = 0-60 volts), meaning it could be useful for 3.2v cells, or 12v / 24v / 48v packs.
(4) Price, for the DC-DC component only, its ~$65 for the non-wifi version, or ~$70 for the wifi version. AC-DC power supply can be as cheap or expensive as you want.

As far as value oriented chinese manufacturers go, this seems like a pretty decent company. The translations and product details given are above average. I can't comment on the app for this specific product, but I own a little USB-C voltage/current tester from the same company and have found it to work well in my very limited testing so far and find that app to be usable (no issues so far).

Anyone have any experience with this product?

Hah.. Sooo, not only did a thread on this product already exist.. But I actually commented multiple times in that other thread and still somehow had no recollection...

Just to make note (for those who may not be aware), there is an earlier version of this called the RD6006 / RD6006w, which is a 6A version, and the later version, the RD6012 / RD6012w, which is 12A rated. I just ordered the RD6012w, which is the 12A version, which the 'w' means it includes the wireless bluetooth adapter so you can use the phone app. I bought the kit which comes with the main RD6012w buck converter panel unit, S12A case, and S800-70 power supply.

I guess you don't want to push it quite all the way to its limit though (550w-600w is about max to pull safely in stock configuration). I found this guy on You Tube who pushed it all the way and blew out the 'steering diode' in the S800-70 power supply, and in the below video, he shows how to repair it and beef up the weak link by replacing the blown diode with 2 in parallel to get more current handling and lower temp per component. The part is a MUR30CT60 steering diode. The heat sink and circuit board has provisions for 3 of these (with only single one mounted in the middle slot), where he replaces the blown one with 2 of them and puts them on the end slots instead. He also warns not to put 3 in so it doesn't overload the HF signal generator.

The above is Part 3 of 4 part series. You may opt to watch all 4. He also explains in Part 4 how to do fan speed mod to quiet down the noisy case fan a bit.

Hope this helps, I just figured out all this stuff since ordering mine (I haven't received my order yet), so I figured if it could save someone else the research to optimize their units, then that'd be great... If you don't plan to push more than 550w-600w, then you don't need to worry about making the mod, but should still be aware, since there is no safety to disable you from doing it, then it will blow (unless the PSU manufacturer has fixed this bug already).

Does anyone have the appropriate drivers that allow the USB connection to a PC? I got a DPS5012 with the USB board, but get error messages when I tried to load the app.

Copy pasted from the product description on Aliexpress (for the 18A model):
Try the top few links
(of course the normal caution of installing software from unknown sources applies, but in this case there may be no alternative, and it appears to be from teh manufacturers aliexpress account).

Note before buying:

1, RD6018 series has two versions: RD6018 and RD6018-W,RD6018-W have WIFI board , RD6018 don't have . RD6018-W can use WIFI board to connect APP, also use USB micro cable to connect PC solftware . RD6018 don't have WIFI board, only support PC software by connecting with USB micro cable, no support APP. For wifi board to connect PC software, now it did not support.
Note: WiFi connection is a test function, due to poor compatibility of some computers, if you cannot connect PC software via WiFi, please ignore this function. For this function, we do not provide any guarantee and technical support, and we will decide whether to keep this function based on customer feedback.

2, for PC software, it only support win 7 and above for now. For APP, it only support android 5.0 and above. For APP and PC software, because there may be incompatibilities problems, please download first before buying , if you can download and install, you can make order, or else stop buying. If you don't test the PC software and APP function before buying and find that the products works fine except the PC software or APP, we refuse to refund.

3, RD6018 has only S800 case, only case, not containing any power supply. some pictures show installation finished by RD6018 , switch power and case .

For S800 case, it is just case, not conntaining any power supply, but it is suitable for RD6018/RD6018W and AC-DC 800w 65V switch power supply, you can buy them seperately to assemble easy.

assemble instruction in English : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1V0l6P1sIJilN1yBOsTO9YGLVdkuO0cX9?usp=sharing

S800 assembly video:to be uploaded

From the manual:

The first time you use this software, you need to install the driver program first, you need to click CH341SER to install the driver, the insert a Micro USB cable into RD6006/RD6012 and wait for the computer to install

These work great, just FYI.

These work great, just FYI.

FYI to anyone interested, I made the modification with two parts instead of one (as I linked to above) and ran it for 3 hours at 720 watts with no problems. I also replaced the power supply fan with a Noctua and it is significantly quieter.

That is great, I had heard a 24A model was in the works almost a year ago, I'm excited to see its coming to market! Thank you for the information.

If you are affiliated with this company or any company, please state that in your profile. Vendors/businesses are welcome on the forum but need to clearly identify themselves.
