I have 2 Renogy Eclipse suitcase panels; one is 100 Watts (2X 50 watt panels) and the other is 200 Watts (2X 100 watt panels). I want the option to connect both together serially which means rewiring the 200 Watt suitcase panels in serial. What’s the best way to do this? My plan so far is to cut the connecting PV wire and swap 2 of the strands serially which then leaves a positive and negative free. These remaining 2 strands (one from each panel will then be the serial connections; one to the 100W suitcase and the other to the charge controller.
Questions: Does it matter which panel provides the positive wire and which the negative assuming I continue that sequence to the 2nd suitcase? Do the diodes in each box somehow dictate the direction of the wire connection? Not sure if this will make total sense so let me know what questions you have back to me.
