Here goes , I might have a super dumb question or not . I have a mppt 60 150 . ( Max input of 150 in volts , correct ? ) Anyway , I can exceed that voltage with 4 of the 5 panels I have . Would there be any advantage or would it even work at all if I put a small solar controller on each panel reducing the output down to let's say 24v per panel then running those five through the mppt . I know it's and odd question . But I need to know

Use 4 panels in 2S2P or get a sixth panel and go 3S2P or 2S3P depending on the results.

Or use two SCCs with 5 panels - one for two panels and the other for three panels.

You would never connect extra SCCs to one main SCC. But you can 2 SCC both connected to the bus bars.

I'd get another panel and go with 3S2P, personally. That would double the current into your charge controller without negatively affecting your maximum input voltage rating.
