While setting up a basic solar system is rather easy, it gets harder to design once things like redundancy and flexebility come into play.
My system is running since about 5 years in the mountains of central europa. We do have periods of 2-3 weeks of no sun and harsch winters,
the system is build to sustain under these conditions.

In the video you can see how i used the flexible plug system not only on the batteries but also for the fusebox on the "house-side" of the system.

Hope my idea with the flexible plugs will help ppl design their own setups.

I like the flexible plugs.
I was considering some wind power, but the amount of energy for the effort doesn't seem very good.
 
depends very much on your location.
for me the wind does provide much needed support during stormy autoumn when its grey weather for weeks.
but compared to solar the output is not relilable or calculatable in that regard.

vertical windturbines are a bit less effort to setup as you can mount them directly on the house.
