Had trouble with my MC4 connectors on the solar panels ( 4s ). Going to replace pos and neg wires on the panels and am looking for some good connectors, not MC4. Any reason I should not do this? Any suggestions on connectors?

Just had another thought. Would there be anything wrong with just running one wire from one panel to another? eliminate the MC4 connector altogether . They are always going to be in 4s. I can use ring terminals on the panels.

3m butt connectors. Heat shrink cover.

Get the “bare” butt connectors. The solar wire may not fit into the pre plastic coated connectors.

Crimp butt splices or solder and heat shrink, but what problems are you having with the mc4 connectors to prompt such drastic changes? I’d think it’s going to be less work and a better job to figure out why you’re failing with the mc4 connectors and remedy that issue.

Cheap no name panels. Poor quality wire and connectors. The wire was corroded inside the insulation. I have ended up hard wiring as I was thinking. I used quality wire and crimp ring terminals. I had the wire and ring terminals on hand. It's back in service and looking good.
