@Mike Jordan I believe there is a ui config option to make it run the screen. I've only used mine headless.

@Dzl The GPS populates the dashboard and there are some tracks added there as well.
You can also add some alarm based rules using longitude and latitude so that if it changes you'll get an alarm event (emails in my case)

Tracks added as in you can/do use it to record some of your trips?

The second link will get the GUI running.

As for the video, use the newer video. I think I've seen one of the two. I'm pretty sure it covers how to get the screen to work. So you might want to go through the video first before tackling the links I gave you. And the links I gave are definitely optional. I've been programming for over 40 years and understand the command line just fine so I'm comfortable with that stuff. If that's not your area of knowledge, watch the (newer) video, get it working, and enjoy the setup. The links are like extra credit.

The instructions at https://github.com/kwindrem/RpiDisplaySetup are the baby steps. Do exactly what is stated. BTW - the SetupHelper he mentions can be found at https://github.com/kwindrem/SetupHelper

Again, the video may be your better option if you feel those instructions are too much for you since, I believe, the video shows you exactly what to do.

I guess I need a how to use github tutorial. I can't seam to find that either. I still have no idea what to do with those pages. I guess I am missing something simple. But I don't know enough to know what that is

Go to https://github.com/kwindrem/RpiDisplaySetup and scroll down below the list of files. There you will see the instructions (it says ReadMe at the top). I won't quote the whole thing because it might change but it starts with:

This package setups up for Raspberry PI 7" touchscreen display
and also for HDMI display on HDMI 0 or HDMI 1
It may also work on other DSI displays with some or all functionality

Read all of the text. The step-by-step instructions are there.

But just use the video. You can actually watch what to do and follow along. That will be much simpler for you.
