Rules for different size strings

At present I have 2 strings with 4 240W panels each. I would like to add another 3 240W panels to one of the strings (7 panels x 37VOC~ 260V) inverter can handle 500V, so no problem there. (EG4 3000 EHV-48 )
I have read where different panel strings are faced in different directions for max input through out the day, but not different string sizes.
Any help would be appreciated.

I believe it depends on whether the strings are on separate charge controllers or different MPPT channels. You would have to check your equipment documentation for specifics.
