Self2Solar Review - Positive Experience

Confirmed, self2solar texting says it'll be a V2 w/ Tigo transmitter. Can't wait to open the box and find that confirmation. On the original topic, good ordering experience so far...

I finally decided to add the SYN-200 and batteries, and unfortunately the Min 11400 I purchased from signature solar 12 months ago is a V2.

Update, the Growatt I ordered from self2solar in Nov '24 never seemed to ship for about 2 weeks. They kept saying it would ship, and sent me several new tracking numbers but it never left. I might have been a little impatient, and maybe it was Thanksgiving holiday, who knows. I told them to cancel, and they did refund the credit card without me having to get the CC company to do it for them. So that's still a 'positive-ish' review. I got a Delta inverter off ebay that arrived in 3 days. Then I bought a second Delta and autotransformer from the same seller.

And SS has been saying for a long time all they are selling is V3. I suggest you insist they swap it out. They have said on this forum that all they are selling is V3.

I don’t dislike it I should say. I think the SYN-200 with some MIN inverters is a much quicker install, and probably much cleaner
Hmmm I'm not sure.

The min is definitely a more sophisticated inverter but the cost of batteries for it adds up QUICKLY if you want lots of storage.

I think the sph may also handle surges better just going by the weight.

The min doesn't have fans and gets hot. I have a huge fan blowing on mine to keep it cool.

If we could figure out how to get Hv batteries for the min as cheaply as it is for 48v inverters I would definitely recommend it

All things considered, I’d be going with a Gridboss/Flexboss setup if I had just started

That is highly dependent on how you install them. I have never had a problem with mine getting hot. Mine are installed in a basement, no heat or ac though. The ambient temperature in the basement reaches about 90 degrees in worst part of summer, its also my gym and I have a fan for when I’m down there and its hot.

Let us know how the SYN-200 does. I almost went that route, and got suckered into the LV all in one.
This is the response I received from SS.

"I looked into your issue and it looks like when you purchased the Growatt 11.4kw inverter in 2023, that was the newest version at that time.
Now that they have since released the version 3 as well as the SYN 200, you would have to use the ATS Transformer or purchase the newest version of the Growatt 11.4kw inverter if you are wanting to utilize the SYN 200.

You are correct that the version you have will not work with the SYN 200.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed."

This is incorrect. I purchased in December 2023. Checking with Growatt to get the exact date. SS has only recently started selling the SYN-200. That's why they sold the V2.

I was looking into these inverters last year, and it was a mess as to what version SS was actually selling. The only retailer that could (at the time) tell me what versions they had in stock was Renvu.

So I called them out and this is the response I got"
"We did not start carrying the SYN 200 until December of last year. It has only been available on our website for about 2 months now."

So until 2 months ago, it looks like they were selling the V2. The sales lady I spoke to didn't know there were two models.

There's actually 3, but that's neither here nor there.

Ron,

My apologies for the misunderstanding. My statement in regards to you purchasing the Growatt 11.4KW and it being the newest version we carried at the time might not have been clear.

Our goal has always been to provide the best available options at the time of purchase, and we’re happy to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your system.

As stated in my previous email, per management at the time of your purchase, we did not offer the SYN 200 or Growatt 11.4KW version 3. You will have to utilize an ATS Transformer or purchase the Growatt 11.4KW version 3 in order for it to be compatible with the SYN 200.

Best Wishes,

Alli

But the SYN-200 was available long before you started carrying it. It’s clear that you were selling the V2 until then because you were pushing the Backup Load route.

Your statement “it looks like when you purchased the Growatt 11.4kw inverter in 2023, that was the newest version at that time.” Is not correct. I,m waiting for the exact date from Growatt.

The number you called is correct, but I don’t see your call.

Hey Ron,

We did not start carrying the SYN 200 until December of last year. It has only been available on our website for about 2 months now.

I called the number I have on file for you, that we always speak on. 650-796-8672.

I purchased it December 2023. The syn-200 was available well before that time in the USA. And given it needed the V3 to run, so was the V3 of the MIN 11400.

What number did you call?

Hey Ron!

I have tried to give you call a few times since we spoke yesterday.

I see I missed you when I was out to lunch and tried again but no luck.

I thought I would go ahead and send over an email.

Hi Ron,

Sorry for any frustration this has caused. To clarify, at the time of your purchase in December 2023, the Growatt 11.4KW inverter (V2) was the latest version we carried. The SYN 200 and the V3 version were not available in our inventory then.

Alli has outlined options to achieve compatibility, including using an ATS Transformer or upgrading to the Growatt 11.4KW Version 3. We truly want to support you as best we can and are happy to discuss the best path forward based on your needs.

Please let us know how you'd like to proceed, and we’ll do our best to help!

@comet48 :
Signature Solar is being dishonest with you it appears. Refer to the attached screenshot of a post to this forum by @SignatureSolarJess clearly stating that they sold only the V3 version since September, 2023.

Hi Ron! We sincerely apologize for the conflicting information and we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. As of September 14th, 2023, we have not acquired any more V2s. However, after some investigation on the matter, we've discovered that we may have had mixed versions of the Growatt 11.4kW Grid-Tie Inverter in our warehouse at the time you had made your purchase in December. We were unaware that we had received a new version and only discovered the change to V3s through customer inquiries. If anyone would like to verify their unit’s version, Growatt can assist by checking the serial number on the unit. You can reach them at usaservice@growatt.com or 866-686-0298.

Customer trust is important to us, and we're committed to providing clear and accurate information.

I’ll follow up with you in a DM to ensure you're taken care of!
