Seplos BMS 3 and Sunny Island SI8.0H-13 - help needed!

Hello all,

Have had a crack at hooking up a DIY Fogstar kit with V3 Seplos BMS with a Sunny Island SI8.0H-13.

This was after a complete failure trying to get V2 Seplos BMS to play nice with the Sunny Island. Seplos specifically lists SMA in their list of compatible inverters and I've seen a few mentions of folk succeeding marrying them.

But alas - I'm still stuck with the same error from the Sunny Island: 7716 - Section switch does not open



Tried every protocol available on the BMS but no joy. From what I can see the communication is correct - just a straight through ethernet cable.

I've not seen any mention of this error code on any forums. Does anyone have a scooby as to what is going on here? Completely stumped, many thanks in advance for any advice.

If you set the SI to lead acid mode eg open loop instead of Lithium mode eg closed loop do you get the same error. If you do then the SI is the likely the problem not closed loop comms to BMS.

Event 7716 or F367 generated by Sunny Island devices indicate that the tie switch does not open.

Corrective Measure

• Ensure that the triggering of the "Automatic Transfer Switch" is correct (Q3).
• Ensure that the "Automatic Transfer Switch" is correctly wired.
• Ensure that the Q2 feedback contact is correctly connected (feedback contact Q2 to Digin).

The "Automatic Transfer Switch" should open if the grid voltage fails or if the Sunny Island becomes isolated from the grid.
As a signal that isolation has taken place, the Digin receives 48 volts DC via the feedback contact Q2. (See circuit diagram in Appendix X5:3 and X5:4)
