... and self induced pain.
I recently added two Seplos 280L battery packs to my system. The communications between the inverters and the batteries was mostly great; not a fan of SOC charge vs voltage but better than open loop communications.
I figured go for broke, get the bluetooth communications up and use that for other information. So, first step download the application; made sure it was the one for the V2. Connect the android to the battery pack and away we go. Nope, brick wall. My phone could see the battery pack in pairing mode but the communication was never completed.
A bit of context, I'm privacy oriented and tend to have "Location" services severely limited on my phone. Why would a BMS monitoring application need access to my location? It doesn't but bluetooth BLE does (see this interesting bit: StackOverFlow Android 6.0 and above needs Location for BLE ).
TLDR: to use BLE turn on Location services AND give the application location permission.
Mostly put this here for anyone else that trips up this way. Thank you to this thread: Home Assistant with bluetooth communication of batteries and the rabbit hole it sent me down.
