New to Solar and looking for some suggestions in planning the installation of an EG4 GridBoss, Flexboss21, and 2 Ruixu Lithi2-16 batteries.
Ideally, we would like to eventually have both the house and some of the loads in the outbuilding on Solar backup. Currently, the outbuilding is not heated, so battery placement will be a factor as we sometimes experience subzero temps in winter. We do plan on being tied to the grid but there is zero interest in net metering at this time. We have plenty of space, so Solar Panels will be on the ground (have not purchased them yet).

We are thinking the GridBoss needs to be as close to the meter as possible, but it would be out in the open (not preferred). The Flexboss and battery could be located in the outbuilding out of most weather conditions except the batteries would still be subject to extreme temps. However, having it in the outbuilding could cause confusion for anyone not familiar with the system and they may think it is just for the outbuilding when it could be for both. We plan on doing most of the work except the grid hookup.

Below is our current panel/meter setup which was installed just over 2 years ago.
  1. The house (critical loads panel) is 200amp. There is a 200amp manual disconnect for it which is located next to the meter. There is approx. 120 feet between this panel and meter.
  2. The outbuilding panel is also 200amp and there is a 200amp manual disconnect for it as well, located next to the manual disconnect for the house. There is approx. 90 feet between the outbuilding panel and meter.
Attached is a photo of the manual disconnects and meter location. Red lines point to where the panels are located inside.

Yup
No point in spending the extra money for a hybrid system that you won't use.

If you don't care about export, build a 12000xp off-grid system and save some coin.

I am using the Grid to charge batteries as needed. Besides, we already purchased the inverter mentioned in my post. We are still shopping for the Solar Panels.
