Hi,

I have built a 3,9 kWp off-grid solar system in Q1. LiFePo-Storage is currently on the build. I want to store PV energy over the day and charge my Tesla overnight.
As my battery is not ready yet the hybrid inverter is not able to run, so I currently test with 2/3 of the panels with a SUN GTIL.
The orientation of the panels is 15° upright and in the direction of South-East. The panels are installed on a roof of a carport.
This carport is next to my house, accordingly my house shades the panels in the morning.
The 12 panels are wired 4P3S.
This is the current grouping:

Currently only panel 1-8 is connected to the SUN GTIL but as soon the battery is completed the whole system will be connected. Now I found out that my house' shading is affecting the productivity in the morning. Panel 1,3,5,7 is free of shading first.
Will it increase the productivity if I switch over to group 1,3,5,7 parallel and 2,4,6,8? (9-12 will stay as it is as 10 and 12 are the last panel free of shade).
Attached you will find a picture looking from 2nd floor onto the panels and a picture from my garden to the carport.

Thanks for your help and Greetings from Germany
Sven

I think you have the concept backwards.
With 1,3,5,7 parallel, the series connection with other parallel strings hinders their output.
If you put 1,3,5,7 in series, the subsequent parallel connections will not reduce their production.
So 4S3P (if possible) otherwise 3S4P would be better.

So you mean I shall put 1,3,5,7 in series, 2,4,6,8 and 9-12 and put these 3 groups into parallel? But this is not possible (unfortunately) .
Umpp is 33,6 V. My hybrid inverter has a max Umpp of 115 V. I only can put 3S together.
Than is it better to put it together 3S4P: 1,3,5 / 7,9,11 / 2,4,6 / 8,10,12?
The left row is free of shade first.
So what you say this would improve the production in the morning?
Thx
