Short BMS wires

Is it safe to extend the wire length of the BMS? I have a DALY 14s 48V 200A BMS and the battery I have created is about 5’ long and the BMS wires only reach about 18”image.jpg. If I were to buy another set of BMS wires would it create any issues?

The sense wires of the BMS carry very little current so extending them (within reason) should not pose an issue. It is more important that the connection to the cell be as close to 0 Ohms resistance as possible as the BMS is measuring millivolts . You do not want a "high resistance" in the circuit as that will affect the BMS operation ( LV & HV cut-off plus balancing).

I'd keep them as short as is reasonable and all the same length and make sure that your splice is a good one.

BTW - I consider myself an "un qualified" expert when it comes to Solar stuff. Use my "advice/opinion" at your discretion.

Cheers.

I ended up buying a 20awg Red and black spool at Lowe’s and making one good solder on every lead. Not because every single one needed it but because the leads are 22 awg I didn’t want the resistance to be different on some of the leads. I did however cut them to size after about a foot and a half of lead wire coming from the plug.
