I have two SMA 5000 units that have comm cards in them, circa 2016.
I just acquired a 3000 unit box made in Jul 2014. It has no comm card.
I need to change settings to use off grid.
I pulled the comm card from the 5000 unit and plugged it in the 3000 box.
Will the access simply shift to the 3000 internals and allow me to cleanly change voltage, timeouts, etc in the 3000 box then move comm card back to 5000 ?
I have Sunny Explorer access to 5000
Also have modbus access to 5000.

I just did that. Took a good speedwire board from a working sb5000 that was made within the same year.
Moved the speedwire board to the sb3000. When I rebooted it it said 'updating.' So it seems to have found its way to the internet without my allowing for that. Now it won'r invert at all.
It's like it had a serial number of a stolen unit and its now a bricked device because of that.
Does anybody know how to check a serial number for possible theft history ?
Even if I unplug the Speedwire ribbon it will not see the dc coming in.
My windows Sunny Explorer does see it but says NOT LOGGED IN
and no way to log in that I see. Sunny Explorer still sees my other 5k unit fine.

I have now returned a 24-hour ago perfectly good comm card to its original home in a sb5000. Won't work anymore.
When it was in the sb3000, the comm tricked the unit into an upgrade, through the internet. That bricked the 3k unit and now comm card is unusable in the 5k box.
C'mon SMA what gives ?

I have a couple of TL21's 2013 and 2015 made for EU/UK, as well as access via the Speedwire module SMA-SWDM-10 you can also access them using a PC running Sunny Explorer with Bluetooth. Hopefully the TL22 for US has bluetooth too.

Default user password is 0000, default Installer password is 1111, to gain access if these have been changed from the default then you need a PUK code from SMA. If you have a Gridguard code then your SMA online service account will give you the PUK immediately, if no Gridguard code then you need to apply online and wait.

It all worked fine for 10 years. Had the grid guard codes, used modbus. 100% beautiful. It was all LAN.
Then the attempt to use speedwire in new used sb3000. That box got on the web and downloaded itself an update.
Now back in the 10 year machine and I can't talk to anymore. It does use the same IP address but seems to have new login parameters I've never encountered.
I have never had to have any online account with sma. My whole system for 10 years has been 100% happy off-grid, off-line.
I have no idea what this PUK code is.
Seems like the forced, sneaky upgrade, forces me to be part of the sma web network.
I just wish I could roll back to the earlier firmware.
What a cluster f--- -- thank you sma
You know the old saying, If it ain't broke, leave it alone.
The whole reason for getting this additional sb3000 inverter was the forever failing Fronius product from 2011.

Update: speedwire woke up Wednesday happy in 10 year old inverter.
sb3000 is a brick
