The small 24v system I put in for my Amish friend (powers a dc freezer) is down to 0.6v.
The system is 1 450w panel and a Victron 100-30 charge controller.
4x12v lifepo4 batteries wired for 24v with battery balancers.
I measured 0.6v dc with my meter. The batteries refuse to take a charge from a portable changer because the voltage is so low.
I have 2 questions. First how in the world could the voltage ever get that low ? I thought the BMS wouldn't let it get below 10v or so.
Secondly how can I get the batteries charged so I can troubleshoot the system ?
Thanks for any advise.

I would suspect BMS has disconnected. Now you need to figure out why. Are the batteries cold? Overcharged? or just depleted? Are all 4 batteries testing low voltage? or maybe just one in each string?

If the BMS has disconnected ... some can reset on their own but most need a boost to restart the BMS. The manual should go into restarting the BMS, but usually involes providing steady voltage to wake up the BMS. Can use a power supply, or a charger that can charge a dead battery, or sometimes another battery can do it.

Disconnect all batteries from the system and wake them up individually. Charge them back up fully before putting them back into the system.

Only one solar panel in Ohio over the past few weeks? There hasn’t been much charging happening and the batteries BMS have likely shut down due to low voltage.

Yes not much sun lately. He has a charger but apparently didn't use it in time. Thanks for the tips, I'm on my way with some old school chargers.

I went over to wake the batteries up and the charge controller had already woke them up and they were taking a charge !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the tips.

Put your meter on all of them to make sure all batteries are awake. Wouldn't be a bad idea to check their voltage at the end of the day ... they could possibly use a little boost from a generator if the sun has been scarce lately.

Thanks, I did check each battery and they were all just over 12.0v. I put a 20A 24 charger on them + the charge controller so they are on their way to 100%. Thanks for the help.
