I'm new to solar and decided to start slow. I decided to use a cheap 1000 watt grid tie inverter from Amazon. Well I also purchased 4 - 100 watt ea. Panels to start and learn about solar. Well the meter I purchased showed how many KWH I was putting into my system. I also purchased a home electrical usage device and connected it to my two incoming 120 volt feeds at my meter and my 200 amp house panel. It is a efergy e2. Well I turned off the breakers for my two refrigerators so as to not get readings as the compressors turned on and off. Well with the solar panels off I was using around 800 watts. So I turned on the invertor and got a reading with a kill-a- watt meter at the invertor of 320 watts. Now my home monitor read 1120 watts used! It added the power I was producing and Didn't subtract it!. How can that be? Is it because of the cheap invertor? What's going on?
