Sol-Ark 15k Standar Wiring Diagram- Grid Connection Question

Hello. I appreciate everyones input on my last question. I have another question. I have a sol-ark 15k which I am connecting to a 400 amp service panel. I have grid power and battery backup.

My question is on the sol ark grid diagram (Diagram 1). The one that has the 200 amp fused diagram going to the GRID. I am not quite clear on how that connection is made. I've been told to do it at the top of the lugs (which is always hot where the CT's go) and then I was told to do it off the 200 amp main breaker at the top. Tie it in there? I have attached the diagram.

I will have a electrician there, but how are most wiring it up for that connection?
I really appreciate everyone's time and this forum has been very helpful.

Typically there needs to be a Line Side Tap which is done somewhere between the output lugs of the meter base and the Main Breaker in the panel.

Sometimes with combination Meter/Breaker panels there is very little space inside or the meter base is connected to the main breaker with a solid bus bar instead of wires and it can be difficult to do a line side tap. Your electrician would be able to help determine the best way to do that.

One potential issue with the wiring diagram shown is that once the line side tap is put in place, all power flows through the inverter and then out to the breaker panel. Without a maintenance bypass its impossible to isolate the inverter for service and still feed utility power directly to the main panel. For this reason we recommend installing a maintenance bypass such as a double throw safety switch in the wiring from the Inverter Load terminals to the Main Panel.

So you’re not installing the 200amp fused disconnect?
 
Yes I was planning on putting one in.
So when I do mine, I’m going to have the meter pulled, remove the wires going to the panel from the meter and wire the meter directly to the fused 200 amp disconnect, then to transfer switch, then back to the panel from the transfer switch.

This is one of the best videos I’ve seen. The initial wiring and understanding how it works was hard for me at first. Scroll to 8 min mark and watch until 17 min mark. Then scroll to 36 min mark and watch the rest. I will be doing mine the same way and adding the manual transfer switch. It’s another $1100 to add it, but worth it to me.

I really appreciate that. I am trying to avoid them having to turn the power off because the location is so remote. Probably a 6 hour round trip for them.

Check you local laws. In Florida we don’t own the meter and technically touching it is against the law. We have to get a licensed electrician and a permit to pull it.

If you’re not going to do that you would have to do a line tap. But then I don’t see how you could use the solark as pass through back to your panel. You would have two powers sources, one from the solark and one from grid.

Hello everyone, I have similar issue, here in Ventura County, CA, where I'm trying to determine what is/is not code compliant when trying to load-side tap from my current 400A meter-main combo panel to two Sol-Ark 15K inverters. Trying to do a line-side tap on these panels legally and practically, I'm told, is basically impossible. Here is the new thread where I posted my issues and comments:
