Hypothetical edge case.

You live close enough to either pole to get substantial midnight sun.

Its my understanding that some less sophisticated solar charge controllers use sundown as their charge termination logic.
I guess you could put some stress on your batteries.
 
Hehe, then it seems to me if I lived near the poles, I might seriously consider buying the 'more sophisticated' MPPT solar charge controller, and make sure I can customize the float voltage to never bother a fully charged lithium pack...

Thanks for the perspective on this, I never considered that this could be a factor though before...
 
Well, living in the neighbour country sweden. Yes, very much sun in summertime.. Almost no effective sun late autum to early spring ( oct-mars)... Today, 320 watt of solar toped att..7 watt... batteries at 65%.. Victron scc. So no off grid on solar without a couple of fotball fields of panels.. Main charger connected now.
