just put in a 3 rotor 20b from a Cosmo... torque out the wazoo, and 600 RWHP is easy... hell with a stock short block (stock porting and the stock intake and no turbo) a few guys got 300 at the flywheel using the stock injectors and intake manifold... add some boost and off ya go.
Sorry for going "off topic" but while we are waiting for Hopefully Good news concerning Solar Sovereign ...
Had a friend that supercharged his 84 and he had to rebuild it multiple times, Under boost it kept damaging Apex seals, but it was quick,
Nelson Racing built an over the top twin turbo intercooled 1600+ HP LS powered 84 RX7 a fully street driven car 15 years ago.
Owner 'honest George,' was 73 at the time. He liked kicking Lamborguini's and pretty much everything elses butts when not going to the post office, store, or Church in it. If you want to see of what it was like to punch the throttle just check out one of the 3 vids of the car, on youtube under "Nelson Racing RX 7"
I would post it but builder Nelson uses some Pretty colorful language while driving it.
No argument there are some crazy fast rotary's. I like how smooth they run, Heck they are so smooth when my folks bought a brand new RX 2, as a kid (later sold to me) and my mom was not really familiar with the rotary having only purchased it 2 weeks earlier , we were on a trip home on the interstate from the big city and had driven about 30 miles at 70 MPH. She said for a new car it is really smooth , but seems to be surging back and forth just a little.
I looked over at the tach... which was almost pegged and said, Mom, maybe you should take the car out of second gear and put it in fourth.
She swore me to secrecy, don't you dare tell your father.
That little 12A rotary was so smooth neither of us even heard the engine.
I think EV's are the new smoother than Rotary today. A stock MYP is over 500 HP at the wheels a New Highland Model 3 "US" version is Over 600 at the wheels- Tesla sandbags their numbers. Some Highland guys are breaking into the 10's with nothing more than lighter wheels and narrower tires.
I like all of them piston, rotary, and ev. But find myself driving the EV more often than anything else. They do not have the cool looks, sound, or visceral experience of the old iron though, and sometimes those things are Priceless.
