No sure why you attributed the comments to me ... I didn't make the comments ... but I agree with you. In general, I have little sympathy/patience for Boomers complaining about how hard they have had it compared to other generations.
I'm not a Boomer........ :)

Maybe you are overlooking the decades of hard work and sacrifice many of us have gone through to get to where we are and instead only see the result and think it was easy. Based on your previous posts I can tell you that you enjoy luxuries that I denied myself while working my way up and that's fine as long as you realize that it is YOU making those choices.

Nobody controls your future unless you allow them to.
what luxuries do I enjoy that you denied yourself? I don't even own a kitchen table or couch?

I blame Oprah, she gave everyone a car. It's been all downhill since.

The comment about boomers complaining about how hard they had it. That doesn't exist. Commenting that you worked your ass off to get where you got, to have what you wanted, things that actually mattered, that's not complaining.

Every generation gets softer. I'm in my early 60's, and I know I had it a lot better and easier, was a lot less disciplined than my dad. He would say the same thing about himself. But we've reached a major tipping point with the last generation. I've read multiple articles about how the current generation knowingly wants to play now and pay later. And that's fine. That's a decision they've made. Just don't call me a boomer or complainer because I can't relate or don't want to listen to you whine.

You're a boomer, why don't you want to be called one? What major tipping point have we reached?

You can't relate because you were born in a different world, and have a hard time seeing how much things have changed. The rules you played by don't work any more. Your generation wrote the current rules, and build the current systems, most of which only suit those who got in early (not the children).

BS. I've lived through all of the changes. I purchased my last house 7 years ago. I've rebuilt the WHOLE house while working full time.
Both my kids in their early 30's are doing better than I ever did. One is a lawyer in NYC and owns her own house, the other is a few towns away from me making six figures without a degree. And in my area, six figures is huge, especially for someone with his background. They both worked their asses off to get where they are, just like their parents. And Boomer, it's a phrase more often than not used in a negative way. It's the go to for younger people who simply don't have it in them to do what "boomers" did to get what they want. It's simply easier to label them and blame them.

No, we had to do bomb drills in elementary.
how many people died in bombings in school each year?

My school actually had an active shooter threat, that was fun....

You're comparing made up fears to real problems.

"what if russia nukes us and destroys the world" vs "what if my classmate brings a gun and shoots me", meanwhile everyone knows cops aren't gonna do a damn thing about shooters. Each is absurd in different ways, but I don't think a single boomer wakes up at night, reliving nightmares of running for their life IN SCHOOL.

Did you have seat belts? Air bags?

We had mom's arm that would swing out to keep us safe. Yes most of us made it... but not all.

Every generation has it's struggle. We fixed the seatbelts. Hopefully the next generation can fix the shootings.

people would rather have their own guns and feel safe than do anything which could make children safer. The same dumbasses who care so much about gun rights tend to be the ones who let their kids darwin award themselves with guns not locked up.

You're ignoring the fact that the "fear" of being bombed by another country (who has never bombed your country before) and being shot by your unhinged peers are totally different things. Has the "struggle" of safety on the road been fixed? not at all, in fact if you care about the safety of children, cars are about as bad as ever since they are designed purely for PASSENGER safety:

Did you have school shooting drills growing up?

I did not and the funny thing is, in high school the students who were old enough to drive often drove pickup trucks to school with their rifles and shotguns in the rack in the back window. We all had access to guns - ours were stored in the bedroom closet - and we knew how to use them. I used to buy ammo at the hardware store on Saturday mornings and go to the dump to target shoot. My friends and I would walk on the side of the roads to the woods to hunt with our rifles in plain view and nobody gave a second look. Imagine doing that now!

Yet, no school shootings. We never even considered using a gun to settle a childhood issue, and there was plenty of bullying which has always existed. We had fist fights and the issue was settled.

So, the question is, why is it different now? It certainly isn't access to guns since we had easy access to guns when I was young.

I believe that it is a complex problem that is deeply woven into our society today and will take generations to fix, if it can be fixed. One thing is certain, putting the focus on guns won't solve the problem because they aren't the problem - their use is a symptom, and it will always be possible for a motivated individual to get a gun.

Czech Republic, 3000W 7kWh DIY for $2300 US. There are state dotations, but there are strings attached, price jumps to double or more.

I knew/know many Boomers who served in Vietnam. Many were drafted. Many of them made something of themselves and didn't blame others for their failures.

If you want a house, then get one and quit being a whiner.

According to you, ever generation before you had it easy. The Civil War vets, WW1 and WW2 vets, Korean War vets, Vietnam vets, those who lived thru the Great Depression and 2 World Wars. Even the pioneers who walked for days across America leading a team of oxen had it easier than you.

One thing I did notice about your posts, it is all about you.

Talk about "cry me a river". And yes, you are a troll, it is obvious at this point.

I can't understand how you can't afford a table on a 6 figure income. Something is drastically wrong somewhere. Maybe your maid is stealing from you.
Ladies of the night? 🤣

He can't bear the thought of stopping at a garage sale or second hand store like Goodwill and spending $10 for an old table. He is too good to associate with the "poor people" who don't make as much as he does. (or says he does) Around here on the right days you can get a table for free when towns have cleanup days. People put stuff out by the curb and you can take home what you want.

I say he is trolling.

lol you think i have a maid?

I don't have a kitchen table/couch because im saving most of my 6 figure income so i can one day buy a house. Spending a few thousand on furniture i don't have space for at the moment is pretty wasteful. The drastically wrong bit is that I need to save money on essentials to be able to one day afford a home.

where can I get a kitchen table for $10? not that I could fit it in my small car...

How much does a banana cost? $10?

I just said where. As for one to fit in your small car, buy a smaller table. It doesn't need to be one like this.

$0.39/lb here at Kwik Star. If you wait until the bananas have started to turn, you can get bananas for $0.10/lb.

I'm not sure you understand the concept of having a car too small to fit a typical table in. Unless it folded or collapsed, I wouldn't even be able to fit the table top in my car.

You just laid all your cards on the table. I'm not surprised by the cards.

Join listserv or neighbors, etc. Lots of stuff given away for free. Or try those thrift stores. Cheap.

Or get your local pennysaver (maybe they are called something else in other parts of the country). People always looking for and giving away things.

hmmm this went from saying people in my age range spend too money, to you guys telling me to buy a table I don't need. not sure how we got here.

you cut the "not that i could fit it in my small car", but i didn't think you were trying to be honest. When i moved i checked facebook marketplace and craigslist for deals and couldn't find any which looked appealing (for the price) or could be delivered. There were junk tables for about that price that i would have to fix up, but again, no need. So i don't use a table, whatever. I have a small kitchen bar.

Again, point being that I'm barely buying anything, the housing market is fucked. This is not due to overspending, unless you consider my rent, but I don't have other options, and I'm in the cheapest place I can reasonably work from.
