We returned a bunch of lumber to Lowes yesterday. Crap lumber they delivered we couldn't make work. A young man came out with a cart, said he was going to load the cart from my trailer. We helped him. My wife is small. Almost 60. She loaded about 2 boards for every one of his. That basically sums up this generation.

your wife isn't being paid by the hour

"boomer run company sells trash lumber and pays employees per hour, im mad worker was slow, young people are so bad"

Spending a few thousand on furniture

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

By the way, what did you spend on a car??

where can I get a kitchen table for $10? not that I could fit it in my small car...

How much does a roof rack cost??

My first car was a Honda N600. It came home on a car trailer, and the engine separate in a box.
After I overhauled it I put a roof rack on top and a trailer hitch in the back.

couldn't find any which looked appealing

And therein lies your entire problem. In all areas of life.

Me, I didn't buy my first Ferrari until I had enough spare cash and income.
There was a time when I didn't even share my house with roommates, I rented out all rooms of my first house and lived in the garage.
(Oh, that was after I bought the Ferrari, which had loan payments much larger than the house. Priorities ...)

people act funny when you substitute the assumed lead content for microplastics

When I was growing up, our plastics contained lead.
And I crimped lead weights on the fishing line with my bare teeth.
Didn't hurt me none 🤪

But those endocrine disrupters you've been ingesting, NOW I understand your problem.

Again, point being that I'm barely buying anything, the housing market is fucked. This is not due to overspending, unless you consider my rent, but I don't have other options, and I'm in the cheapest place I can reasonably work from.

I feel your pain.
I live in a neighborhood of expansive Mediterranean mansions, mostly 3500 to 6000 square feet, overlooking the valley of common folk.
But I don't live in one of those; I live in a hovel. A nicely remodeled (by my own hands) hovel, but a hovel none the less.
I have the largest lot and the largest swimming pool (also a Jacuzzi) in this neighborhood of mansions.
I wish I lived in a home like those. The last one that sold went for $2.8 million 5 years ago. I wonder how much today?
Hmm, Zillow estimates some at $3.75 million.
I could buy one for cash ... Nah, I enjoy digging up my mason jars of coins when the moon is full and pouring the coins through my fingers too much to ever give that up.
You may even be able to hear my laughter wafting over the night air as I think about how I built my wealth upon the backs of this latest generation.

Did you have school shooting drills growing up?
We didn't need them. We all knew about dad's guns, and we knew that we would get whipped if we touched them while he wasn't around.

The lefties have ruined everything for you. We used to be able to whip our kids to correct behavior. You really only needed to whip the smart ones once, and the dumb ones maybe twice. Whatever it took for them to understand that you meant what you said. Now you can't discipline your children, or someone who has never raised their own kids will report you to a government agency that has never raised kids either.

The lefties also ruined the prices of everything by inflicting inflation every chance they get. Their utopian world doesn't exist, but you can't tell them. They just think that all of the others before them didn't do it right. Socialism works in families and maybe churches. Beyond that it doesn't scale well at all. Everyone ends up wanting their solar tax credit whether they bought a system or not.

Yes, you didn't need them, illustrating my point clearly. You grew up in another world, and refuse to realize things have changed. They have changed more than you could ever imagine, and none of that change was cause by the current youth.

Your generation failed to build a world suitable for the current children, and them you blame the kids for it. It's honestly pathetic.

Don't forget the silver amalgam fillings in your teeth. Mercury and silver. No big whoop.
You don't still crimp lead weights with your teeth? I still do. Not enough exposure to worry about.

Typically these lefties figure out how everyone can have affordable rent without any taxpayer dollars being spent.
You just impose rent control, not just on apartment complexes but on privately owned houses and on rooms people rent out in their own homes.
That way everyone will always be able to rent an affordable home.
And it doesn't cost the taxpayer anything, because landlord registration fees cover cost of the rent adjustment program.

School shootings? Did we do that to you? (hint, my generation didn't do school shootings. yours does.)

I do realize how much they have changed. I hate that they have changed. I blame the lefties (of all generations).

If you must blame a generation, blame the generation before me. You know, the "Greatest Generation." They are the ones who only recently yielded control. By the way, that generation got handed a mess made by the generation before them as well. See how this goes?

I decided I prefer to enjoy watching fish instead of killing them.
Besides, the fish were smarter than me. If I want to eat fish I have to buy what someone else netted with a seine.

Been hearing about that mercury problem for years. My wife has learned a lot about it from webinars.
One demonstrated that simply heating a tooth with amalgam filling in hot water then holding it between UV lamp and phosphor screen, the mercury fumes caused shadows by blocking UV light.
Mercury in vapor form is among the most dangerous, absorbed immediately.

I pointed out to her that he failed to use a "control" a second tooth without amalgam filling, to show the difference. She dismissed my issue as of no significance.

Reading on-line, it was pointed out that mercury vapor is heavier than air. It would sink. The fumes in the demo were rising. They were simply steam.
H2O may not absorb UV, but density variation will refract it. Just as hot air refracts the light that passes through it.

She has a lot of amalgam fillings. Was finally going to get them all removed by a Biological Dentist and replaced with composite.

I finally got her to have a blood mercury test. When she said she got the results, I asked what it showed.
She said, "1 microgram of mercury per liter of blood."
I asked to read the report.
The report actually said, " < 1ug per liter, below the level of detection 1.0 ug/liter. Based on atomic mass spectrometry."

So I explained to her that there was no detectable level of mercury in her blood. Replacing the fillings would provide no health benefit and couldn't even be measured by lab equipment. But it could release trapped mercury in the fillings, if the dentist failed to do the procedure as safely as they claim.

She ultimately didn't get it done, just other procedures.

I had read up on the topic, the blood levels typically seen in general population and in those with fillings. I had expected noticeable levels maybe 10 or so ug/l (ppb) but that wasn't the case. Maybe it is new vs. old fillings?

I quit using mason jars for my gold bars. I started using cream cans so I could get more bars inside and easier for me to remember where I buried all of them.

If you don't know what a cream can is, a 10 gallon one is shown in this photo. I'm quite certain the younger generation has no idea what these were originally used for. The handles are a clue.

I am quite giddy when I view my gold bars knowing I took everything from my children and grandchildren's future. 🤣

My children have a much easier life than I had. I did raise some great children, I'm very proud of them. They bought houses before the age of 30 without any whining and didn't need me to finance it or cosign. I'm quite certain they will do well and have a bright future ahead of them. They are still under 30 years old.

Replacing the fillings would provide no health benefit

There might be a health benefit if she has any large amalgam fillings in her molars because they don't bond to the tooth and instead, can tend to act as a wedge and crack the tooth as a person ages. Once that happens it can be difficult or impossible to save the tooth.

once again, you blame the kids for how they were raised, not the world built to raise them in.

I blame the parents for making it too easy for their children which is a common mistake, because when they do they give their children a false sense of what the real world is like.

You see this in the increasing use of words like "entitled" and "deserve". I can't tell you how often my parents told us "the world doesn't owe you a living". You don't deserve anything - you work for it.

They also did everything themselves, from fixing and maintaining vehicles to building the house we grew up in from the ground up. The only thing they had done for them was digging the hole for the basement. They taught us the value of things and the importance of working and saving for the future. Those were valuable lessons - I know I wouldn't be where I am today without them. Plus, I was lucky to find a wife with exactly the same values and upbringing.

Where am I? - I am retired and can live wherever I want, have zero debt, and short of global financial collapse will have no financial concerns for the rest of my life. This wasn't given to me and didn't require special rules to achieve that no longer apply. It took hard work at the right things and sacrifice, something you probably know nothing about.

But, if you change your defeatist attitude and put in the effort, you can do it too.

...
Of course I realize what has happened. Things were great growing up. Opportunities abounded . Food tasted better, girls were prettier, music could be enjoyed, cars could be worked on, houses could be bought for a working mans salary, Movies and even TV was watchable (for the most part), phones were something not surgically attached to your ear. Worlds population was 1/2 of what it is now.

My generation had fun and you get to pay for it all. Thanks.

BTW, you can still enjoy yourself even if things have changed. Things do not come to those that wait. Things come to those that go out and make it happen.

again, pathetic you don't take responsibility.
My kids are responsible and productive members of society. I have been a scout leader for over 25 years, trying to help make sure that other youth also grow up to be responsible and productive members of society. Please tell me what I should have done differently to make sure that you grew up the same way?

You seem to have a deep chip on your shoulder about something. You keep suggesting that we are "pathetic." That isn't very descriptive though, so please give me very specific feedback about what I'm doing wrong so I can not be "pathetic."

You also mentioned "billionaires" several times as if they have done something wrong to you. I don't know of any billionaires that didn't work very hard to get that way. Also, it isn't an exclusive club; they will let you join if you ask politely. I suggest you join the millionaire club first. It is somewhat less exclusive. It also gives you a taste of paying for all of the government handouts before you step up to the big league and pay nearly all of it.

You conveniently left out the part about "Gen-X" being over-represented as well. The thing is that congress has age limits, so the part of the population that doesn't qualify is represented by those that do qualify. Nothing to see here; move along.
congress has age groups with are set too high. You're ignoring the fact that I was responding to "but the greatest generation did it"

you're taking this far too personally, if you can't see "your generation" fucked up, I don't know what to tell you.

The only way to become a billionaire is to exploit and cheat those around you. Plain and simple, that's the name of the game. I don't have respect for people who do that. Billionaires should be taxed out of existence. If they can't do their work "just to make things better" and only do it "so i can buy more yachts", I think that type of work should not be incentivized. How much "misery" do you have to dish out to become worth a billion?

Every billionaire in the world right now is crooked as shit. Some are "less bad", sure, but that class of people are built on the backs of the working class, and they are the real leeches.

OK, name ten billionaires and tell us how they exploited or cheated anyone. You seem to be suggesting that taking a risk in business should not come with the chance of making a profit. How many people would do anything if they couldn't get compensated for it? Hint: Assuming that anyone will try to outperform their peers for the same compensation is the problem with socialism.
