24 Volt 2.56Kwh Kohler Battery 100Ah 25.6V LFP Battery LBB025100A. 8S

Purchased last week on solar auction… accidentally won 3 lots. 😂.
I have 552 of these new babies.

Plan on selling 250 or so.

I’m going to make my system in the Sok 12 slot rack with bus bars. To make a 60 kw 48 volt system. It would be 24 of these.

Make me an offer .

Have you opened up one of these? What BMS do they use?
Bms is functional but idk how to communicate with it.
Or type..

What kind of inverters might work with these batteries?

Look back at will’s videos where he had multiple brands of batteries hooked to his inverters.
The easiest way is to have open loop .. inverter charges off of voltage vs SoC. Most of the inverters now can do this. I’m running eg4 inverters on my system.

Hi Anthony! I accidentally bought 6 pallets of BMS units (300+ ) that go with these batteries to make higher voltage banks, which are used with the 7.6KW hybrid inverters , I bought about 100 of those also by mistake. If anyone wants to experiment with these they are available and cheap !
best regards, Hans

These batteries were supposed to be used in high voltage strings ( 150-400V) and connected to 7.6KW GoodWe hybrid inverters, formerly sold by Kohler. We have these inverters and BMS boxes, together with 9600W balancing transformers ( 120 N 120 ). There seems to be an issue with configuring this system because they were set up to communicate with a corporate server. If they don't (and that server no longer exists) the BMS seems to not want to charge the batteries. We have not yet spent time to figure this out, but we are on speaking terms with the manufacturer. Also there are other high volatge batteries that work with these inverters, like the BYD high voltage batteries.

So you think with some tinkering, these could be used with a 48v Growatt inverter? I am looking to buy 10 of these. Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you. I am trying to use these with a Growatt or eg4 inverter.

For optimal battery life you would need to put a BMS on it covering both batteries (16S ) and simply limit the charge voltage on your inverter to 58V or so. That way you don't have the headache of establishing communication between the BMS and your inverter.
If these battery packs have internal cell balancing you would need a balancer to keep the 2 batteries equal Volts.

I noticed a lot of people purchased the bms. Does the bms module have a battery in it?

Im testing things now.. so far …
the individual battery units are functioning individual 24 volt batteries than can be added for higher voltages like 48 volt systems. The bms has a voltage range. Doesnt need the original bms unit.

And using these 24v batteries without modification of bms?

Yes , the original system was high voltage. The bms has a large voltage range.
That’s how they took 8s individual 24 volt batteries and put in series for high voltage.
