Hi, if PV power not sufficient to power the House load (on the grid port) will the inverter use battery power or grid import power to supply the house?

I'm asking because I have all my house on the back-up port and have decided to move the EV car charger to the grid port, but don't want to draw power from the grid if solar is insufficient.

Edit: I guess what I'm asking is: is the battery serving only the backup port or also the house on the grid port, provided grid voltage is present?

I've got the S5 3K model, but I assume the S6 is similar in self-use mode. The battery will supply both outputs while there is grid present, and just the backup port if the grid fails.

My 3 phase S6 when operating in "self use" mode sources power in this order:
- solar PV
- battery
- grid
So if solar and /or battery can supply sufficient power then the load will not be sourced from teh grid.

But you do mention an EVSE, so your inverter is limited to 6kW total. If the house and car are pulling more than this then the excess load above 6kW will be coming directly from the grid. Yet another reason to match the inverter to the expected loads, not to the PV output !

Thanks for the answers. I have another 3kw Huawei + panels connected before the CT of the Solis, so the excess load comes from it, then from the grid.

The Solis will not be able to see the Huawei/panels because the CT is in the wrong place, so it will discharge the battery rather than sourcing from the upstream source.
In addition if you operate the EVSE while the downstream inverter is trying to charge the battery you may end up importing power.
Much better to get the CT into the right position (at the grid connection)

Actually the setup is working better than expected. Only the Solis has battery and it charges it from it's panels, while the Huawei is providing power to the house (backup port, smart port and grid connected non-essential). The Solis also sees the correct export and import to/from grid. If I would move the Huawei after Solis' CT the Solis would count Huawei's contribution as grid import.
