Hi all, newcomer here. I have installed a SPH6548P split phase inverter with the Sun Gold 200ah battery. I hooked up a 1900/2400w generator via a 30amp RV cord to the generator in lugs. When I run the generator, the inverter recognizes it and shows 120v coming in, but I can’t figure out the settings to have the generator charge the battery!!! I do have solar panels attached and those are charging the battery, but not the generator.
Any help would be appreciated as we live in the NW and generator back up is uber important!!
Thanks in advance

So, after further investigation and some help from the Sun Gold community, I CAN charge single phase. I had to go in and change a setting (#68) to tell the inverter I was using single phase in.

Now, I have realized that my small generator probably isn’t enough to power the setup. I will switch to my large generator and set up split phase.
Thanks for all of your assistance!! Grateful for this forum!

Save yourself a huge headache, stop where you are and get a Chargeverter.

I have the Sungold SPH8048P. Initially when I installed it, it charged on 120v from my inverter generator. Then that generator decided it didn’t wanna start anymore, so I hooked up my emergency spare HF inverter generator. It didn’t work. So I rewired it to 220v for my old reliable loud generator. It didn’t work. So I put the wiring back the way I initially had it working and bought a brand new generator just like my first one that did work. Still didn’t work.

So, based on the helpful responses here, I got a Chargeverter and never looked back. It works flawlessly with any generator, and not super expensive. I got mine from Current Connected. They were the only place I could fine one it stock at the time.

So I have changed to a split phase, 50a generator and now have 240 in and 240 out, but the inverter will only recognize the generator for 2 seconds then stops, the a starts, the stops.
I find it hard to believe that a two year old generator won’t charge my battery! What am I missing?

Hi, setting up a system now with the SPH6548P and only have a 120V plug on my generator. I saw you had to change the settings to change it to single phase. I will have to change my settings when I get to that point, How did you wire it at the inverter? L1, L2, N
