Hi,
Completely new to the solar game, so please bear with me. Will the Sungold 6.5KW 48V Split Phase Solar Inverter SPH6548P produce 240V with a single inverter.

yes if you choose the settings correctly. it will do either 120 /240 v. I am very new here but I have one doing 240v here for me.

Ok, thanks that"s what I thought. I sent a message on Sungold power and this was the reply:

Based on our available knowledge, to get 240V output, you would need at least 2 units of the SPH6548P paralleled together. A single unit alone cannot provide the 240V split-phase output you're looking for.

I have 2 of the 10K versions of this inverter and I assure you; they can do either 120v single phase (combines both outputs into 1, or split phase 120v/240v. The P at the end allows for parallel so you can either have one doing 120v and the other doing 120v to make 240v, or they can both function in split phase and then parallelled which is what I'm doing. I believe the default setting was split phase though.

I wouldn't buy that inverter if you plan on running any high start amp draw devices like AC or well pumps. It couldn't run both of my 15k BTU RV AC's at once like my old EG4 6500EX inverter could. It would also shut down if I had a high load running and tried to start a single AC. Surge capacity is the issue with this thing, it has none! Also running at 240V you'll only have 3250W on each leg and it will shut off after a few seconds if you go over it at all. Disappointing and weak inverter. Had to send it back and get the 10kW version that is awesome and powerful and quiet.
