Hi, I have quite a big problem here.

After updating the firmware, the SI is booting until orange is steady, but I don't see any wifi AP, and connecting via ethernet to 169.254.12.3 does not work.

Anyone has any idea?

Redownload the firmware and reapply.

Description
Considerations for Sunny Island single and cluster system firmware updates, the link to the relevant eManual section for cluster systems and the link to the detailed instructions regarding the firmware update process for Sunny Island devices which are also included in the FW download.

The instructions are valid for following devices:
• SI6.0H-13 / SI8.0H-13 / SI4.4M-13
• SI6.0H-12 / SI8.0H-12 / SI4.4M-12

Considerations:

General
Use at least shielded CAT5e pre-configurated cables.
• The communication cables must be installed separately from the power cables to avoid disturbances.
Single Systems
• It is important that a terminator is inserted in the ComSync connector.
• The update process takes approximately 15 minutes.
Cluster Systems
The communication bus must be terminated at each end with the terminators, the terminators have a resistance of 120Ohm approximately, this resistance can be checked at each end of the wiring.
◦ See Connecting the Data Cable for the Internal Communication of the Cluster for details.
◦ The communication bus in total must be not longer as 30 meters.
• The update process takes approximately 30 minutes.

Redownload the firmware and reapply.

Sorry to say this, but how can I install the firmware if the webui is not reachable?

A 169.x address means it hasn't connected to anything, check your router to see if you can find out what IP was given to it.

Well, it seems that the documentation says that the inverter is reset to default configuration.

But no! It still stores some values regarding to network, so it had the IP before upgrading, and also the gateway.

Bringing up all the network with a generator did the work.

Thanks to all for your support. Hopefully this thread will serve as documentation for someone on my situation!

I was gonna say that you can upload the firmware by just inserting a new SD card with the firmware on it. But I guess those European version don’t even have an SD card slot. Bummer. I suppose there is no SD card slot inside underneath the cover? Do you have to do the upgrade via wired ethernet?

If like older US models, you update master SI and it passes update to slaves.
I think it does that even later, not just when update first installed in master.
If you have multiple, or know someone with an SI having the firmware you want, could try attaching yours as slave.

Right, but you need to have a Sunny Island with an SD card slot and from what I can see of the pictures the European versions don’t even have SD card slots.

I'm going on the assumption someone has a successful update.
If not, how about a still-running SI without update? With it as master, maybe it can pass on its downrev firmware successfully via the sync cable.

The update worked, he got a connection once he fully connected it as the original IP address was still there, the instructions say you need to configure from the start but were wrong. These later SI,s have lost the SD card slot and are accessed only by ethernet.

Not only that, if you have a fixed IP set and do a direct connection to the inverter, the 12.3 IP is not assigned to it, despite that the network from the DHCP is 169.254.* and no ARP messages were replied by the inverter. The network only works for 255.255.0.0. So it is impossible to connect with the inverter in this situation. Beware!

Also the wifi access point is not restored to default and I had it disabled on configuration.
