I have a 12v off-grid system with 6 ground-mounted 135w 12 yr. old solar panels, 8 6v 220Ah batteries with a few years left in them, an Outback Flexmax 80 controller, and a MagnaSine 2812 inverter. I'm thinking of replacing the solar panels with 4 300+w panels (which would just fit my ground mount) for a 50% increase in charging. I understand that my controller would have to be replaced unless I change my system to 24 or 48v which seems like a good idea. Should I do this and will I have to replace my inverter? I'm doing this so I can cut back on the amount of time I have to run a generator in winter.

Can the inverter be switched to 24v or is it 12v only?

Can the charge controller just be switched over to 24v?

Do you have any 12v devices other than the inverter?

The inverter is 12v only but the controller can be switched to 24v. I have a small wind turbine that produces 12v. Can that be inverted to 24v?

It probably depends on which wind turbine you have. The turbine probably produces more than 12V volts and the charge controller (PWM?) would manage the battery charging.
If you have any more info, its possible someone can figure out how to do it.

The wind turbine has a built in controller which I doubt can be adjusted.
