Tesla solar panels with “other” battery?

Is it possible to use other batteries with Tesla solar systems? Can a deep cycle marine battery be used in conjunction with Tesla Solar? If so, configuration needed? Steps needed? Or is it just plug and play?

Side note-Does anyone know how to setup a mobile backup battery and charger for Nissan Leaf? Want to be able to pull over and charge a little with whatever I bring instead of having to go to charge station.
Thanks!

Can you provide a link or a model number of the exact solar panel you are referring to? Do those use micro-inverters or run to a separate solar charge controller, is there some existing battery system involved?

Or provide a diagram of the existing 'Tesla solar system'? The system operates as a whole, and it may or may not be possible to integrate other voltages into a given part of that system.

If it already has something like a Tesla powerwall or something, then battery voltage is integrated into the inverter element. Or does it have some other kind of inverter, and can it accept a battery system? We might have to know what the existing components are before making any assumptions. Is this like a Solar City installation or something?
