I've bought a second hand Morningstar TS 45 & was wondering how to test it, apart from the obvious. What would just putting a battery on tell me ? I dont have bench power supply, just a basic multimeter. I shoud get it today or tomorrow & I have a short window to confirm the purchase or reject it, so im looking at away to do this quickly, really busy at work at the mo, without digging out a panel & sorting out wiring.

Chances are it will work or it won’t. No partly working SCC failures are common though I suppose somewhere someone has had some strange things happen.

If it is hooked to solar panels and your partly discharged battery and the math agrees with the displayed amps of charge on the morninstare then that’s about the best you can do to say a used SCC is functional.

Thanks. I was thinking of a really quick way to test but I guess I’ll have to dig out a panel & connect it up as if it was in service.
