The contrast between Solar Sovereign and Current Connected

I need to buy a second EG4 Indoor Wallmount battery. My first was from Signature Solar which went well, but they had stopped offering free shipping so I looked around at others.

Solar Sovereign was offering free shipping and a free EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro portable power station. That good a deal was a clue something was wrong here. They also claimed the battery was "in stock". I placed on order on Sep 7th, got an email confirmation, and my credit card was charged almost immediately.

3 days after the order, I inquired about a ship date and/or tracking info. Got this response:

"Due to the current backlog with the shipping company, the pickup is scheduled for mid-to-late next week.
Once the carrier picks up your order, they will promptly send you tracking information to your email within 24 hours."

I asked which shipping company was delayed and got no response.

12 days after the order with no updates, I inquired again since we are now clearly past the "mid-to-late next week" mark.

I get this response:

"I am having our shipping team look into your order now and will get you an update as soon as I have the proper information."

13 days after order, I get this:

"I heard back from my shipping team that your order has been packaged and palletized since 9/9 and is awaiting carrier pickup from our warehouse scheduled for mid next week.

I understand the delay on this order is frustrating, right now we are working as hard we can to get these orders pushed out and are dealing with carrier restrictions with them only picking up Mon Wed and Fri."

Again, not their fault, the shipping company, and again "mid next week".

I asked again who the carrier was, no response.

20 days after the order, I inquired again.

Got this response:

"Now all I can say is that I don't have a definite answer for you as to when your items will ship. However, we are on a first come first serve basis and we are diligently working daily trying to knock out these backlog of orders. Once your order has been loaded on the carrier for delivery, you will receive a conformation email with tracking information within 24 hours."

Wait, I was told earlier my shipment was on the dock waiting for the carrier, not behind some backlog.

Further inquiries produces this:

"Unfortunately, the shipping carrier for your items has not yet been established, and we’ve received an update that all shipments to Florida are currently on hold due to Hurricane Helene flooding. I want to be as transparent as possible, but I cannot provide a specific shipping date until the carrier is confirmed."

So my shipment was waiting on a carrier that has not yet been established? I was told it was on the dock ready to go Sep 9th and the delay is the carrier's fault, now I'm told there is no carrier yet. Lies all around.

21 days after the order I decide to cancel, this is clearly not going to work and they don't actually have the product at all.

The response:

"A request of the cancellation will be submitted for you"

A request? To whom is this request?

"We have a system that we follow for that
you requested a cancellation and we requested that for you
Have a good day"

They can charge you card in minutes, but it takes an untold number of days to refund it. Their "system" is a delaying tactic.

I pointed out all the EG4 products disappeared from their website.

"And for the products on the website as our technical team was working on updating the website"

Yeah, right! You've been turned off, dude.

My credit card company requires a 10 day period from requesting a refund to when they will pull back the transaction. I'm now sitting at 5 days into that period and will call them when I reach the 10 day mark. I do not expect Solar Sovereign to process the refund in that time based on the above experience.

I suspect that Solar Sovereign was using Signature Solar as a drop shipper, and then Solar Sovereign was late in sending payments to Signature Solar, so Signature Solar turned them off. Now they had orders they couldn't fill and they wanted to string along customers while they tried to figure out how to get another supplier lined up. They wouldn't be honest with me that this was all happening, so they lost all credibility with me on the order.

I would find it incredibly not surprising if Solar Sovereign is out of business soon. Not paying your creditors is the first indicator. Lying to customers is the next.

As my brother said: "there seems to be a lot of shady characters in the solar business".

I still need the battery, so I ordered it from Current Connected. They claimed to have stock, and while they charged shipping, it was a small amount ($175) and they offered a small discount on the unit which effectively made the shipping free.

I placed the order yesterday at 1025. I received an email that it had been shipped 5 hours later with tracking number.

I'll get it next week.

Now that's the way it should work.

Only thing I found slightly odd about Current Connected is that they want to charge you extra for some shipping insurance, adding it on the order without my asking, but which I could decline on checkout, which I did. The EG4 battery crate is well designed, so I didn't feel the need for that. I will find out when it arrives.

CC posted about the insurance and there was a legitimate reason why. I believe that insurance was a resolution nearly immediately where standard freight insurance drags out the process buy months.

Agreed except they have it default on all orders, order some mc4 connectors, came in a bubble envelope.

Just gotta remember to uncheck that box.

I sent a faulty 18k pv back to Solar Sovereign awhile ago and still waiting for a $5k refund. I tracked the returned unit and they received the unit awhile ago. I emailed them on the 25th to tell them the unit was sent and has been received, and asked when to expect my refund. They emailed me back saying " When it arrives I will get it processed immediately. It depends on your bank when it will actually get back in your account".

I filed a complaint with both my states Attorney Generals Office and Texas. I would urge others to do the same and document it for them. In my case, I got a RMA from EG4 and they received the product back. Unfortunately my purchase was outside the payment dispute time with the payment I used. I spoke with Texas AG Office about the situation and was told if I don't receive my refund after 30 days of product return, to call them back and they will refer me to someone to explain my situation to since the dollar amount is $5k and I'm from another state. Not sure what that means but I'm sure if others document similar experiences, some action would more likely take place.

I have since purchased 2 18k pv inverters and another Powerpro indoor from CC. Very response CS and Tech Support. Freight product lands 7-10 days after I order from Vegas to East Coast. Can't ask for much more.

Solar Sovereign was late in sending payments to Signature Solar

I think you nailed it there. Saw another post about the photos showing the founder of Solar Sovereign with an exotic car. Nothing wrong with enjoying your profits a little here and there. If it's really *profits*. With their aggressive pricing, I would expect it to take a bit longer to buy a Lambo.

They told me similar lies about carriers backlogged due to a weather event in Houston, when my contact - local there on the ground - told me that the major carriers all operate on normal schedule.

However, I did receive my product from S.Sovereign.

TLDR: Good people vs shitbags.

being that i order all of my gear form the US via the USPS and military postal system let me chime in on this. some vendors are just shitbags after a quick buck.... Current connected gets an A+ after taking care of an order that another vendor screwed me over (communications and follow up, not item).

this is a good example of a different, yet good vendor in the states (florida, currently going through hell i might add):

copied form email:

Hi Ken, I'm sending this from my phone I'm in my car as we are all prepping for yet another hurricane that's supposed to be very very bad. The last part of your centrifuge is on the bench as we have been able to start production again after cleaning up the damage from the last one! It's almost done! I'm really going to try hard to get it out today before this next storm hits! I am so sorry for these delays I will keep you updated I haven't forgotten about you!

Best,
Pam

Thanks, this will take about the same amount of time as the first transfer did.

Hi, Ken.

In line heater is $285.00 USD
Variable speed controller is $895.00 USD

now this is the tail end of a 7k order, they have been obviously dealing with some serious weather issues and yet some how they can manage. I had already decided to give them extra time due to whats going on there, but without me even needing to send them an email, I got the above email... BTW, they were not even late yet according to the original timeline...

today I got another email indicating items had been dropped at the post office, then an hour after that, click and ship notifications of items received by the post office....

now how can they manage that, during cleanup form a hurricane, and some little snot nosed brat can not manage a simple take a payment and then send out an order that he is not even making? the above company has to make the item as its a custom order, yet the owner/operator of that company cares....

so just to tie it all together, Dexter, built his company himself so he cares.... the people in the above email built their own company, they care, the diesel guys i deal with built their own family owned company and they care... its all about being a good person, and caring about the what you have created and your own name as well.

I own and operate Morgan E&R, my primary business is marine repair, I contract to the military as well as commercial jobs. I understand the mindset behind someone like Dexter.... I cannot fathom the fuc***rd that we are discussing.

people stop feeding this entity money.

Gosh I would never order from solar sovereign. Just constant complaints coming from people who order from them.

Yeah current connected will not advertise a product unless they have it ready to go. They are very strict about that.
So True!
Yes I was a recent victim of Solar Sovereign. Same story that everybody has had they turn into Ghosts as soon as they charge your credit card. Long story short my Credit Card has already refunded my 30k that I had ordered.

So of course I was extremely nervous about ordering from anyone again. Seen some the post on here about CURRENT CONNECTED! And started looking at there site, sure enough they show what they have in stock and how many on each item!
Oh my god! I couldn’t believe it! I didn’t have to work with some child or tiny internet store that just drop ships, these guys are the real deal!
So long story short I made my order this morning and sure enough all of my shipment (which is not small) has allready been put in trucks and is scheduled to be at my shop in 2 days!
Unbelievable, no Shipping Excuses, no Hurricane Excuses, no Port Strike Excuses! None!
Why and How??
Because they actually have a real Business and Inventory!
Excellent Job!
CURRENT CONNECTED
More to come as my order arrives, but nothing but Impressed so far!

We really appreciate the feedback and I'll be sure to share it with the team tomorrow. Doing the right thing sure does pay off!

That is because Dexter holds himself responsible for his success and failures... its refreshing to watch someone build a brand off of hard work and not shystyness

Or build something off smoke and mirrors.

I wish I could justify ordering another 2-3k worth of equipment from CC, maybe time will tell.

Make sure you are logged in when browsing. Some decent discounts there.

3 months ago I ordered from Solar Sovereign about 1.5-2 months ago I was told it was on a pallet ready to go but they were having trouble finding freight vendors. Today out of the blue they refunded me the $16-17k they had held for 3 months. I don't foresee them being in business for the long haul.

Honestly, knowing that they were tied to Signature Solar has gotten me a little wary about EG4 and Signature Solar, but I think that's just a mental hang up I'll have to get over. There are plenty of very good reviews of the company and their equipment.

I completely understand how you're feeling, and I'm really sorry for any concerns this has caused. I want to assure you that we've fully cut ties with Solar Sovereign due to the issues that came up. If there's anything we can do to restore your confidence in us, I'm here and happy to help!

Honestly, seeing how attentive you are and have worked through so many issues here in the forums is why I'll likely still be giving Signature Solar and EG4 business. Thank you for that!

Probably a smart move some things can only be fix d with a serious ass beating… theft is one of them

Gonna cut down on a ton of forum bandwidth, from all the threads asking about their long awaited sol sovereign orders... :)
nah, I have a feeling these yahoos will open a new shop and reshuffle their business model and we’ll hear about the next guy waiting for his order after trying to save $500.

Going forward Signature will refuse to allow businesses of the type to buy from us below retail

As of this past Sunday, Solar Sovereign is out of business.

My credit card company refunded my money some weeks back, so I wasn't burned and got my materials from other vendors. My system is complete, past inspections, and operating. We are waiting on the new meter to fully enable production.

Solar sure seems to attract a lot of questionable vendors.
