Would these missiles make any aircraft carrier ... or virtually any other warship a sitting duck?
I certainly wouldn't want to be on a carrier these days. I felt virtually invincible on the Nimitz when she was full of Tomcats and CIWS, now it's the last place I would want to be.
Drone swarms and hypersonic missiles are going to reshape the battlefield drastically in the near future.
Swarms of tiny drones that spread out so as to be invisible until they converge on a target could be used to make the flight deck unsurvivable for the crew. If they want to cripple the air wing they wouldn't even need warheads, they could simply be designed to be sucked into jet intakes.
Small submarines or even unmanned submersibles could be used to get close and release a swarm, mines can designed to release swarms as well. Pretty soon they're gonna take all the fun out of war. Aircraft made being in a tank less appealing, shoulder fired misses made being a fighter pilot less appealing and drones and hypersonic weapons are gonna wreck being a pirate the last bastion of fun left in war.
