I thought others would be interested in this flaw of Solar Panels. It has to do with a molecule being inadvertently added to the boron material which becomes a shallow receptor or free holes trapping some electrons causing a 2% degrees in power. It sounds to be a problem with all silicon based solar panels. They are refining the creation process. Watch the video to find out the molecule causing the problem. I first heard about this a few months ago..... it is an interesting story. Like you said, now that they know what is going on they will try to address it.
The key will be finding a way to prevent or counteract the impurities during production that is low cost enough to warrant the 2% gain.
