"The One, Big, Beautiful bill" text seeks to end solar tax credit on 12/31/25

I’m a bit upset the “big beautiful bill” does not bring down the budget. Seems by leveling the budget and lowering taxes, we go further in debt and are worst off. All this money saved from fraud waste and abuse and the budget was not lowered.
Just another pork barrel of spending raising the debt ceiling massively. Why I don't get worked up over politics just accept whatever they are going to do they will do no reason to waste my time on it.

Yep. It is interesting that Congress is requesting a $5 trillion increase in the debt limit by July to prevent a default. There won't be any leveling of the budget; all signs are pointing to massive increases in defense spending. And with tax cuts for the rich in the pipeline, our country's income will be going down. More spending plus less tax income.

It will put all the scammer solar installers out of business hopefully. Utilities and AHJ's regulate it to death need some basic requirements like UL 1741 leave it at that. Solar is quickly becoming required here in Arizona our electric rates are climbing fast this year APS largest utility just put in for another rate hike. Were well on our way to 30 cents a KWH like California.
Well, with my battery system here in CA and my Sol-Ark off setting the high rates, I am averaging about 10-14 cents per kW monthly including an electric dryer, 2 EV cars and 6 tons of HVAC. Plus a lot more. So, as you said, you are in Arizona, not California. Things are not perfect in CA, but at least in San Diego we have a public not for profit electricity coop that purchases electricity, mostly solar and wind and provides it to customers at a lower rate than from SDG&E. the utility performs billing and electricity delivery, but no generation. As a result, my bills are the lowest in over 5 years. So maybe the problems in AZ are due to a lack of progressives?

Well, you speak clearly to the point. It would be much better even if you left the democracy and relocated to a country like China, North Korea or even Venezuela where the government will better serve your needs without your participation or care. You are a classic example of the weakness of a democracy. Really smart educated persons founded the idea and principles of the USA, but they couldn't figure out how to make sure that the majority of the citizens participated, were aware and even cared how they were governed. And so when you don't care or pay attention to events around you, you make the wrong decisions regarding your own future or no decisions at all and you surrender your rights and freedoms to those who would take them for their own gain.

Got to admit the Republican Party is great at selling a bag of steer manure and convincing you it is better than Miracle Gro!

Just balance your dramatic discussion with your "kid or grandkid" with how massive inflation over the prior 4 years or so robbed many of the dream of home-ownership and retirement.
As offered, there is no drama whatsoever nor discussion needed in simply standing there (smiling) like there is nothing wrong as we all are doing now. Btw, these kid's hopes of a better life went out the window during a subsequent series of recent administrations who (for but one example) allowed subsidies to be handed out like candy for absolutely everything while spending like drunken sailors.
Just so you keep it non-political and treat both sides as the reality that they are. Add in a bit about fraud, waste and abuse for a rounded lesson.
I blame it all on us not politicians who always have been (frankly) merely an extension of our collective will.
The older you are(?) the more of a chance that you most definitely viewed solar subsidies as being a great thing not for your kids and grandkids (who would obviously never receive them)...but for you and you alone.
I ra in to a guy the other day (my age) who reminded me of what I have been telling people for years:
We all knew that the well was going to run dry and that it was predicted to when we were kids...so simply smiling (now) as if we all somehow did not understand how to fight or manage it is truly our only play.

We transition from "Tax and Spend" to "Borrow and Spend" what is worse?
1789 was the first borrow and spend to fund general items in the US from what I saw. So... there was no recent transition. We were all in on tax, borrow, and spend for quite some time.

That sounds defeatist.

OK and there have been times of reducing the debt or at least reducing the deficit. I believe there was an effort after WW2 to reduce debt and Clinton had a moment of minimal deficit.

My preference would be to move toward small surplus. The current action makes no real effort.

Indeed, we have a debt based economy - so the fact that our government follows the same paradigm is not a surprise. The spending is little different between the parties; democrats tend to spend a little less, republicans a bit more, but it's not a huge difference. Income is similar, with democrats tending to increase income from new taxes, and with republicans reducing them. That's why, over time, the deficit grows faster under republicans than under democrats. Since 1913, republican presidents added about $1.4 trillion per four-year term, compared to $1.2 trillion added by democrats.

Of course what they spend it on is very different. Democrats tend towards social programs (healthcare, Social Security, scientific research, technology incentives) and republicans tend towards military spending.

In terms of what this means for the US solar industry - it will see a significant hit over the next 4 years. I'd expect Growatt, SMA, Kyocera, Huawei etc to take over the inverter space from Enphase, Sol-Ark and Solaredge. The solar panel space has already been taken over by the likes of Jinko, Longi and Trina.

It's impossible to clean up the thread so I moved it to chit chat zone.

In the future, if something is posted to the "industry news and government policies" section, it needs to have direction and be solar related. If you would like to just discuss politics then you can post whatever you would like in the chit chat zone

Yes, to keep people on the treadmill. If nations currencies were stable, then people could save money, and retire. Can't have that apparently.

The dollar has lost 99% of its value since 1913.
There is a reason for that.
What is thee price of gold now to which the govt took up? They took up silver coins and finally made them clad too

The govt also took up silver $1 coins in 1960 and even copper under Reagan. Around 1981 even copper pennies became zinc based with copper coatings. The govt was asking everyone to stop hoarding copper coins and turn them in under Reagan. Ppl had gave themup by truck loads for trading in for the paper money.and clad coins

The dollar bill cotton linen rag basically replaced old $1 silver dollar coin when content of silver was reduced. There use tobe a $1 dollar gold coin but they were tiny. We sold off massive amounts of gold and suppose bought silver think un FDR.

There were millions of the $1 gold coins in later 1800. The silver coins took place of them.

The rag actual worthless bills were good for ppl snorting coke aka used them like straws. After Civil War ppl burned confederate bills - paper as fire starter. Ppl only trusted precious metals. There was a nickle that got gold plated and passed as $5 gold piece. Counterfeiting was common. Right now would avoid most old gold coins as a lot of the $1 gold coins that remain are possible fakes.

I had hobby collecting old coins ..... the govt proved all money belonnged to them with gold coins.... forcing turn in during FDR. Think there was another time and push in 1970s. Look it up.

Paper bills are worthless. In 1900s bills were issued from govt called silver certificates where could trade them for silver. That stopped too. Can still find them in circulation from time to time. Money was backed by so called precious metals....

Computers and circuit boards use to be made with lot of precious metals too. Most all connectors were gold coated. Ppl would get the old circuit components and metal them down to recover precious metals in 1980s. I knew a business man that became very wealthy because he voltuneered to get rid of all those land fill items for free..... shss he recovered platinum gold and silver made a fortune. The govt shipped him FREE 55 gallon drums of the circuit boards to his foundry - dispose of them. He got a lot of paper money for his efforts. He polluted.the air big time with his foundry. When EPA cracked down on him he went to black hills in Dakotas and started gold mining.

He converted his paper money into the tri color gold business and supposedly made a fortune in 1980s.
Like this.

The govt does not have a claim to gold jewelry vs coins. So... btw Gold Maples are usually real good for high quality gold - content. The USA cant claim them but can make illegal based on transport importations like the South African Gold and Russian Gold coins. Probably done others too with foreign money. EMBARGOS. The Govt are CONTROLLING Assholes.

Apartheid Govt was crashed. Then afterwords resources precious metals and things like diamonds were exploited ..... Hillary Clinton made decent return on those illegal investments back in days. It was illegal for others to invest but not that bitch.

I dont tthink there is much to like about this touted bill . The govt is rogue and not in control of We the Ppl

You are a bit late in the timeline.
Think of what happened in 1913. That sold the country to the banksters.

Dear Congressman Issa:
Re: Your vote on the House The Big Beautiful Bill
Reading and watching reports in the media regarding this legislation, it is being characterized as a complete repeal of the Inflation Reduction Act. I've read that EV tax credits are gone, residential PV system tax credits are gone, battery tax credits are gone, heat pump heating and cooling tax credits are gone, heat pump water heater tax credits are gone and corporate grants and loans for domestic manufacturing and expansion are cut back or gone too. Plus not to mention a Federal tax on EV's of $250 per year per car. Plus I have not heard your name mentioned once as a person trying to increase the SALT tax deduction rate while your district is one of the most expensive to live in the USA. Add to this voters in the North County have voted to raise sales taxes which are now commonly 8.75% to help the local government provide great city services. Our gas prices are $4.25 a gallon now. So I ask you this: What have you done to represent the needs of the people living in your district. A district loaded with electric cars, solar systems, charging infrastructure and businesses dedicated to moving the clean air and clean water for our region forward? When I have asked you about national wildfire insurance for our state, I was told by your office that it was not needed, that wildfires in California are the result of Democratic control by the governor and the legislature. I couldn't believe you wrote back such a stupid comment. But it's okay to keep having FEMA dole out hundreds of millions for tornadoes in RED states who never improve their building codes or pay Federal flood insurance claims in RED states that keep building below flood plains and do nothing in their water management.
Congressman Issa, stand up, be a man, be a leader and represent your district and it's needs. Otherwise, please get out of the way so others can do what must be done in our district.

How many hours a week do you spend discussing politics?

Ppl leaving the politicians to run things is exactly why everything is so messed up now.

Ppl did not spend enough time keeping tabs on govt. aka involved in politics.

Instead of "we the ppl" being the boss we elected ppl to tell us what to do and Rule over us. The Govt has slipped in all kinds of laws to protect themsellves in the process of capturing control. When the employess rule over themselves and us then there will always be major corruption. Our govt sets down after elected, votes on their own wages, and benefits plus are allowed kick backs aka bribe money from lobbyist. AIPAC is one of the largest with control in both parties.

So if you are not concerned with politics suggest you go watch some sports on tv, relax on the sofa, eat pizza, drink alcohol, do drugs, and look at porn. Do all those important things and let the criminals in charge run politics. Sound good?

Hi D71. I agree with most of what you are saying. There is also the media running cover for politicians though. I mean we literally have politicians and families doing cocaine in the whitehouse, and recently some EU politicians on a train, and the media immediately runs cover for them. "It wasn't what it looked like", "Conspiracy", "We will never know who did it". Yet, when real, important issues like lies that are pro-war (the yellow cake lies) come about, they are all like parrots saying the same thing. Backing the current push.

There will always be people that have a level of trust in media, especially those on "their side". So it is tough to relate to someone who is fed propaganda 24-7. No matter which side of the isle they happen to be on.

Add to this politicians buying the messaging of influencers and getting pop stars to sing and message at political rallies. It's getting pretty far gone.

Stop blaming the media for the ignorance of the electorate. Many voters are not engaged in the issues of the day and this is a major weakness of Democracy. Even more voters are easily swayed by bogus arguments and wind up voting against their own best interests. And then there is a group of voters who cling to religious promises, gun rights, immigration fears, and racial divides that become so scared that they will vote for anyone who promises to relieve those fears. And so we have today what we have.
