What works for me is having a look at history and try to predict future scenario's. We are in for some big changes.

Self driving cars are going to make the garages we have obsolete as it will be cheaper for most people to call a "taxi".
Electric cars are going to affect the oil industry and the assets they have worthless, potentially triggering another banking crisis.
The excess of electricity generation during parts of the day will make hydrogen production dirt cheap and that hydrogen can be used to make steel and desalination cheaper.
There will be power outages for those without enough storage and we will need to substantially upgrade the grid if we want to provide power to less affluent populations.
Lab grown meat is going to put a lot of farmers out of business, again potentially triggering a banking crisis and a recession. Banks might consider not lending to the farmers in order top protect the banks and that will be a whole other problem.

There is going to be a lot of disruption, confused and angry people are not going to solve those issues. As the opposition to science is showing that they are more likely to create a civil war and a failed state. But if we work together, it could also have huge benefits to our enjoyment of life.

Solar and wind are the cheapest sources of electricity, nuclear one of the most expensive. I don't see how nuclear is going to compete without massive subsidies.

Really, any other suggestion of what liberals should hate? Speaking for myself I have no problem with nukes, I don't see how they could possible compete with rooftop solar.

It is early days yet, but from what I have seen, I expect that my self installed solar project will pay for itself in about 10 - 11 years. The costs of batteries and solar will continue to go down and when you look at Australia, where coal still reigns, people are already installing solar for the cost benefits. Of course only those who have sufficient money will be able to do that. But the grid will become more expensive, even if we switch to solar and wind, as it has fewer customers supporting it. This will only increase the incentive to switch for all those who can afford to.

And before you start, if you don't like subsidies for solar, would you support Bernie Sanders and AOC in their call to end fossil fuel subsidies?

I work in the electric utility industry. Point #1 : wind and solar must be backed up 100% with other sources of power because you can't depend on them.
I'm building an off grid system for backup in a disaster.
I don't oppose small subsidies for solar but wind is an environmental nightmare that shouldn't be supported.

Lets try to go back to health care... Here is a socialist/capitalist issue. Spending on healthcare per capita here in Canada is way lower than in the US, yet Canada has better outcomes in general. Assuming you support capitalism for it's efficiencies, you would surely go for the most efficient system right? (which between those two systems would be universal health care) Even Obama did not try to do that, Obamacare was for a large part copied from Romney's health care system. And let me tell you, while Obamacare was an improvement, if they tried to implement a version of Obamacare here I would be protesting in the street.

So tell me, why would you oppose a system that has better outcomes and costs less?

Dems are anti-gun.. that's bad. They are anti-self defense.. and they are anti-death penality. I happen to be a big believer in the death penalty, in fact, I think we need to install an express lane.

They hand out welfare to lazy people who don't deserve it.

There are a bunch of factors, for example obesity is likely to be one of them, age another. I am sure that in years to come scientist will be writing papers about this. I am interested to see what they find. I am afraid that in the short term, especially on internet forums it will be an issue steeped in politics with people blaming every one but their favourite politician.
