This could be interesting

I'm really inspired by this whole thread. I can for the MUST inverter info. I love the idea of a low frequency all in one which they seem to offer on alibaba.

The flexible bus bars are cool but a little intimidating right now. If I adequately compress the cells so they move as a whole unit, would that similarly lower the risk to the terminal?

Going to say YES to the compression .... would not only help the battery life BUT also stop movement of the terminals

I too am very interested to see how this turns out! The only thing I've purchased from China are eight 280Ah 3V batteries. I am considering purchasing the solar panels from China, too. Any thoughts?

The rest I think I'm purchasing from elsewhere, especially the charge controller, inverter and monitor. I of course also want to spend a little money as possible, but I'm hesitant to get the more involved gadgets from china.
I have done a very similar purchase, I don't see any problems with what you have done. I went for the Yangze 550 watt panels. And Chargery BMS out of Hong Kong.
One note of caution. It is not 3 day Amazon delivery. Once you get your BOL and know the name of the ship, you can track it on the internet, and you know that saying " a slow boat from China"
Still waiting on Batteries.:)

Do note that when you get solar panels in the US from China you'll be hit with import tariffs.

We don't have that in the EU, so it's much more convenient to import them.

I don't live in the USA and we don't have tariffs to deal with, and the wily Chinese have figured a way around that problem. They explained to me that they do this for the US and would do the same for me even if not needed.

Yes, and this is highly illegal and if you happen to get inspected you end up with a load of trouble.
True, but we don't have tariffs.
We do have import duties, and sales taxes, all based on product value, and I pay those happily. Product value is accurately stated.
It seems to me that pissing matches between nations should be kept out of the consumers arena, and we should let the best product win the race. But all that is wishful thinking.

We had a member on the forum try to import the Yangze panels into the port of Houston if I recall.

The fees upon arrival were so onerous that he abandoned the shipment.

Of course that is the primary reason to to make sure the terms are DDP because the seller takes the customs and shipping risk until the goods are delivered to your doorstep.

None of the large providers of solar panels in China ships them DDP. I asked many times. DAP (DDU) is as good as it gets.

I wonder how the example which @JoeHam mentioned played out?

I remember that since I was involved in that conversation. He declined the panels. It would have cost him almost twice the amount or thereabouts.

Edit: this is the thread and post in question (also check the post right before):

So I got off my dead butt and did some searching to find the actual post. It also involved the mislabeling trick which failed miserably.
