I have a Victron BMV 712 battery monitor and really like it - TBH if i redid things i would just but the smart shunt they have now as I rarely use the BMV head to check my batteries. But thinking about LFP, I would be adding a BMS which operates somewhat like shunt that can shut things off. as well as a Battery protect (which I'm considering instead of the BMS. Is this overkill?
One concern i have that favours the Smart BP product over the BMS is that it allows for much thicker (lower gauge) wiring where as the BMS i have has two 10AWG wires soldered to the board. Thoughts?
