Thread and member deleted ?

Hush now Swabby Deboner...
Lol, I spent 6 years in and never set foot on a boat

Went and got my lifetime national parks pass today. Totally free and saves fees for park entry. Also gives discounts on many tours and things.

Wish I had known 20 years ago.

There were a few recent posts and a thread by a deleted member, VoltPolice, that were quickly deleted.
I'm curious at to why, what rules were violated that made them vanish so quickly?
Not even a new home in the chit chat zone?
Oh right, that was me. The company that he was blaming was a company that also threatened to sue me and others. I do not want his lawyers trying to shut down this site. Everyone over there is filled with drama. I do not mind criticizing products, but when a new member is posting direct accusations and name-calling, and posting pictures of said individuals on our site, it is a huge liability. They are bad people. Both parties.

And it was a new profile. And they were copy/pasting their accusations in multiple threads, effectively spamming older threads.

Also, if you want to criticize a company, need direct evidence. Posting problems with customer service and dysfunctional products is fine (with evidence), but personal criticism of various founders and employees is just asking for problems.

If you do file a lawsuit and the judgement is pertinent, post away.

Also, if you are a senior member who has been posting consistently, I will never delete your profile or messages. We even have a set message count to make this impossible to do. This will never happen to any normal members here. If we were hacked and that did occur, we would reload a backup from a few days ago. That will never happen here.

The thread was a conspiracy, bashing Battery Evo and claiming that they are allegedly selling used batteries as new and likely sourcing them from a recycler that was at the same address.
It seemed he had no actual proof and was asking folks to look inside their batteries.
I think that's one of the rules here, don't make claims unless you have proof!
Exactly.

Also the poster was a new member, and it could have been an anonymous profile created by the company that does not like them. I suggest everyone stay away from both. They are trouble. They are the only company I had an issue with, and that threatened legal action when I found problems with their products.

Furthermore, they had another profile created using the same IP, and they were not very intelligent when creating the name. So I figured out some things, and deleted it all. Not worth our time at all.

If it is the one I remember, the nature of the post and what it said was sufficiently harsh that hosting it might make forum owner liable for the statements in it. A very neutral factual statement with link to legal documents might have been viewed differently.
Absolutely

Many times, a member will start out posting seemingly good posts, than switch to spammy content, and get booted, taking all their posts out at the same time. Not familiar with the member in question, sorry.
This account was purely spamming old threads or creating accusations without evidence, and personal attacks and photos of individuals who work at the company. Not cool. No threads or posts of substance at all. This just created the profile.

Upnorthandpersonal actually reported it first, and then I deleted everything. The last thing we want is to deal with any of those companies.

Dayum @Will Prowse you a busy beaver there son... I feel your pain. I am jammed into the middle of a legal battle between four US companies and its a royal PITA and I am just a bit player third tier subcontractor who saw all the crap go down... I could not imagine being the actual subject of a lawsuit with a company that has some real cash to throw at me.

I went to the BLM office in lakewood co. I had my DD214 with me but she only glanced at it. I suppose she decided if I knew what it was I must have been in. There is a link on the national parks passes for locations that issue it. And apparently any national park office can issue it. And the spouse is also eligible for her own card. Each car gets a car load in or 4 people walking.

You can get it mail order but that costs $10.

I read "impossible" as some thing definite and final, in terms of forum-software-settings. What if a person joins the forum and is polite at first. After some time, some thing happens and that person starts misbehaving. I have a strong hunch that the described scenario is extremely rare, hence "impossible in normal cases" and that main problem is new spam-accounts, AI, and alike.

message count value = 1
? ^^

What, someone like me? Nah, never going to happen... People change sometimes, depends on the situation. Or in my case medication. LoL

We tend to assume the account is hacked, lock it, remove the offending posts and leave the rest.
