Tim's build thread (get off my lawn)

🤣 Huh, ironic. I know it’s about at the knee and early but, the former lagger, cell 9 is now a bit ahead. It’s a horse race

Hey just realized something. If you adjust your battery capacity, the cycle count goes away. No big deal, just nice to know.

I just can’t get over I zeroed my cycle count.
My OCD bit me in the arse again.
Why worry about cycle count? I just wonder how many years the LFP cells will last.

I found it strange that batteries were discharged to 5%, then recharged to 20% and the JK counted that as a cycle. Seems inaccurate me.

Better to track total amount of Ah in and out of the batteries imo. Then you can calculate full charge cycle equivalents if that's an important metric

I like to think I stay in shape by moving panels around. But usually I move some then lay down for a few days with a big bottle of advil.
That Advil is hard on the kidneys, I took that plus Tylenol for many years daily. Rheumatologist and my PMR doctor pushed to get me off both. I get bursitis bad in my hips. About every 6 months I take a trip to the VA and they give me a shot for it. It helps with the spondylosis I have in my lower back too.

I go the chiropractor about every 2 to 3 weeks, VA pays for it. Helps with the stiffness from my rheumatoid arthritis. I get Botox every 3 months for migraines, VA pays for it, $10K per year. Took 4 years of bouncing around to specialists before I met the PMR doctor and she diagnosed migraines in 20 minutes. She is one of the good ones. Rheumatoid meds are $30K per year. I'm not cheap to keep around.

I'd like to get back to doing cardio 3 to 4 times per week, just don't have time with work and the current build. I'm getting close to being semi retired. I'm actually doing well considering the abuse my body has taken.

I’m afraid that bms is toast. It balanced all cells except one. Now a different lagger. The longer it was held at bulk voltage the worse the lagger got (50mv). Apparently it balances the runners and now doesn’t spend enough energy to bring the lagger up. The other batteries all balanced. I have another JK to throw at it or add another balancer as mentioned earlier. Weird

Being on grid is boring.
Burn the ships. Leave the dark side! We installed the final "main engine" panels on Dec 19 and haven't come close to needing the generator since then. But if we do, it's there. And it doesn't charge me a monthly fee just to exist, or try to tell me how to build and maintain my system. Lift that foot off the dock, man! 😁

I will, when I get to the point where it's cost effective.
I'm not there, yet. My help on this project has been under performing.
I've been trying to cut her some slack, since she's only been here for nine months.

My PV is finally peaking out from under the snow, and I think that the risk of grid outages are slim for now.
So I turned off the grid charger that's been keeping the system at 100%.
Forcast is for a little more snow tonight and tomorrow. And temperatures are going to plummet for the next 5 days. But I'm tired of being on the grid, so I switched it off.
