Tips for transporting panels in van?

The company I planned to buy from are stating you have to make the first purchase from your card's registered address, which is my family member's house.

I could buy like a pack of screws there though. :) Then make the main purchase here.

The other issue though is this address is not registered - due to being off-grid so can be hit and miss if they follow my special instructions to deliver.

I had scheduled a visit to them anyway, in just over a week, which is 2 hours drive away. I just measured up and the panels will be ~1.7M length and internal of van is almost exactly that, just a few cm over. So since I was headed there anyway I was considering just getting them ordered there and bring them up myself.

It would be 2x panels and I guess I would stack them on one another but being glass/double glass, not sure, is there a risk of them going crack?

How delicate are they? Is it a bad idea rather than taking my chances with the haulage company taking them direct to the address and whether they will find it?

They will have to go on the bed anyway and could put padding between each one then ratchet straps or other tie down over them attached to the eye for load carrying in the van?

I have transported literally thousands of solar panels over the years and I found the safest way to transport them is standing up on edge that way they're only supporting their own weight and it's not putting pressure on the glass from the weight above. With just two panels you might be able to lay them flat and put some furniture pads or cardboard between them and even put the top one askew to the one below

Find a thick box or corner foam piece to reduce the chance that the top rear corner of the on-edge panels is going to break the rear windshield.
